## Base44 Pricing: The Short Answer

Base44 has a free plan and four self-serve paid plans: Starter, Builder, Pro and Elite. On annual billing they cost $16, $40, $80 and $160 a month; month to month they cost $20, $50, $100 and $200. Business and Enterprise tiers are priced in the app or by sales. Every plan meters usage with two separate credit pools that reset monthly and do not roll over, and that is where most of the real cost, and most of the complaints, come from. Below you will find every plan, what credits actually buy, the hidden costs real users report, and how Base44's pricing compares to Superapp and Lovable.

> **Quick answer: how much does Base44 cost?** As of November 2026, Base44 costs $0 (Free), $16 (Starter), $40 (Builder), $80 (Pro) or $160 (Elite) per month billed annually, or $20, $50, $100 and $200 billed monthly. Each plan includes message credits for building with AI (25 to 1,200 a month) and integration credits for your live app's emails, AI calls and other built-in services (100 to 50,000). Unused credits expire at each reset, prompts that go wrong still cost credits, and plan fees are non-refundable. Backend functions, GitHub, code export and App Store files all start at Builder, so most real apps cost at least $40 to $50 a month. For a native iPhone app that can sell subscriptions, a native-Swift builder like Superapp avoids Base44's web-view limits.

Prices below were checked on November 3, 2026 against the [Base44 pricing page](https://base44.com/pricing), [Base44's own pricing guide](https://base44.com/guides/how-much-does-base44-cost) and the [Base44 docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Credits). User stories come from public reviews on [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/base44.com), [Product Hunt](https://www.producthunt.com/products/base44/reviews) and the [Base44 feedback board](https://feedback.base44.com/). Base44 is owned by Wix.

## How much does each Base44 plan cost?

Base44 charges a flat monthly fee per workspace, and annual billing takes 20% off every paid tier. The credit allowances are the same on either billing cycle.

| Plan | Price, billed yearly | Price, billed monthly | Message credits / month | Integration credits / month | Built for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | $0 | 25 (max 5 a day) | 100 | Trying Base44, up to 5 apps |
| Starter | $16 | $20 | 100 | 2,000 | A first app or personal project |
| Builder | $40 | $50 | 250 | 10,000 | Customer-facing apps, mobile builds |
| Pro | $80 | $100 | 500 | 20,000 | Apps with active users |
| Elite | $160 | $200 | 1,200 | 50,000 | Heavy building, high-traffic apps |
| Business | Shown in app | Shown in app | 2,400 to 5,400 | 96,000 to 216,000 | Teams needing SSO, backups, governance |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Dedicated account team, audit logs |

Business is a self-serve upgrade sold in six credit sizes with no public price; it adds SSO, data residency, 30-day backup and restore, IP allowlisting and per-member credit limits on top of Elite ([Base44 billing docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Billing-and-plans)).

## What does each Base44 plan unlock?

The biggest jumps are from Free to Starter (unlimited apps and code edits) and from Starter to Builder (GitHub, backend functions, code export and App Store files). Pro and Elite mostly add credits and database space.

| Feature | Free | Starter | Builder | Pro | Elite |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Number of apps | Up to 5 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Database size per app | 200 MB | 2 GB | 5 GB | 10 GB | 25 GB |
| Edit code | View only | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Connect a custom domain | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Free domain for 1 year (yearly plans) | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| AI model selection | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| GitHub sync and ZIP code export | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Backend functions | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Download App Store and Google Play files | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Early access to beta features | No | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Premium support | No | No | No | No | Yes |

Every plan, including Free, gets the core platform: AI app building, the built-in backend and database, authentication, analytics, cloud storage and multi-user collaboration. Feature gates come from the [pricing page](https://base44.com/pricing), the [credits docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Credits), the [developer tools docs](https://docs.base44.com/documentation/building-your-app/developer-tools), the [database limits docs](https://docs.base44.com/Building-your-app/Managing-your-app-data) and the [App Store docs](https://docs.base44.com/documentation/building-your-app/uploading-to-app-stores).

## How do Base44 credits work?

Base44 uses two credit types that are tracked separately, and running out of either one blocks something different.

Message credits are spent when you prompt Base44's AI to plan, change or fix your app. Manual edits in the visual editor, like dragging elements or retyping text, cost nothing. Integration credits are spent when your app calls Base44's built-in services: sending an email, generating an image, calling an LLM, running an in-app AI agent or a workflow step. Reading and writing your app's database does not use integration credits, and calling an outside service with your own API key is free on Base44's side ([Base44 docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Credits)).

The rules that catch people out:

- Credits reset once a month on the day you subscribed, and anything unused expires.
 - The Free plan caps your personal workspace at 5 message credits a day, up to 25 a month.
 - The exact cost of a message is calculated after it runs, and Base44 says you cannot preview an integration credit cost before running an action.
 - Credits are shared across everyone in a workspace, so a teammate's prompts drain the same pool.
 - On the Free plan, automatic AI fixes use message credits. On paid plans they are free.

## What do Base44 credits actually buy?

A message credit buys roughly one small feature change, and an integration credit buys roughly one email or one image. Base44 publishes these as estimates, so treat them as planning ranges rather than quotes.

| Action | Credit type | Typical cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Simple visual or text change via prompt | Message | About 0.5 |
| Improving a small feature | Message | About 1 |
| Adding a complex module | Message | About 2 |
| Large, app-wide change | Message | About 3 to 4 |
| Discuss mode message (no code change) | Message | About 0.3 |
| Sending an email (default domain) | Integration | About 1 |
| Sending an email from your own domain | Integration | About 2 |
| Push notification to a mobile user | Integration | About 1 |
| Generating an image | Integration | About 1 |
| Generating video | Integration | About 5 per second |
| LLM call on the Automatic model | Integration | About 1 |
| LLM call on a model you pick | Integration | From about 3 |
| In-app AI agent message on Automatic | Integration | From about 3 |
| 10 workflow steps | Integration | About 1 |
| 100 backend function runs | Integration | About 1 |
| Database reads and writes | None | Free |

Source: [Base44 credits documentation](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Credits).

Applying those estimates to the plans (our arithmetic, not Base44 figures):

- Starter's 100 message credits cover roughly 200 simple edits, 100 small feature changes, or 50 complex modules a month, if every prompt works the first time.
 - Starter's 2,000 integration credits cover roughly 2,000 standard emails, or about 650 in-app agent messages on the Automatic model.
 - Builder's 10,000 integration credits stretch to roughly 3,300 agent messages a month. An AI chatbot with real users can burn through that faster than you build.

The practical takeaway matches Base44's own advice: size the plan on message credits while you are building, and on integration credits once people are using what you built.

## What does Base44 really charge for beyond the plan price?

Base44 has no separate hosting or platform fee, but the plan price is rarely the whole bill. These are the costs users run into most often, ranked roughly by how often they come up in public reviews.

| Hidden cost | What it is | Who pays it | How to limit it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Paying for AI mistakes | Prompts that fail or need redoing still use message credits | Everyone who builds | Revert instead of re-prompting, use Discuss mode |
| Live-app usage | Your users' emails, AI features and workflows drain integration credits | Apps with real users | Use your own API keys, avoid AI loops |
| Expired credits | Unused credits vanish at every monthly reset | Anyone with uneven months | Pick the smaller tier, upgrade mid-cycle when needed |
| Forced upgrades | Top-ups are not available to every account, so running out can mean a full tier jump | Heavy builders | Check top-up access before you need it |
| Plan gates | Backend functions, GitHub, code export and store files need Builder | Anyone shipping a real product | Budget Builder from the start |
| Database size limits | Each plan caps database size per app | Data-heavy apps | Store large content as files, prune old records |
| Annual plan lock-in | Annual fees are non-refundable and cannot be switched to monthly | Anyone who clicks yearly | Start monthly until the tier is clear |
| Leaving the platform | Exported code still depends on Base44's backend; no self-hosting | Anyone who outgrows it | Plan a backend rebuild before you commit |
| Outside services | Stripe, your own AI provider, Apple's $99 developer fee | Apps that charge or publish | Add them to the budget |

Each of these is covered in detail below, with what Base44's own documentation says and what users report.

## Do you pay for Base44's AI mistakes?

Yes. Every prompt uses message credits whether or not the result is what you wanted, and Base44 states that credits are non-refundable for tool behavior and AI mistakes ([Base44 docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Credits)). This is the single most common complaint in Base44's public reviews.

The pattern users describe is a fix loop: the AI misreads a request or breaks something that worked, you prompt again to repair it, and each repair costs credits. One Trustpilot reviewer, Michael Sims, summed it up in September 2026: "It's just whack-a-mole and it charges you for each swing of the club." Another, Lionel, said the builder "takes so many credits, and redoes issues 50 times and is still not fixed." On the Base44 feedback board, an Elite subscriber said they lost around 150 credits to failed operations in one month, plus another 200 that expired unused ([feedback post](https://feedback.base44.com/p/creditcard-allow-unused-credits-to-roll-over-between-billing-cycles)).

Some reviewers go further and allege the builder breaks working features on purpose late in the credit cycle. That is an accusation, not something any evidence we found supports, but it shows how fix loops feel from the user's side.

There is a fairer side to this. Base44 documents several ways to cut fix-loop spend, and some users report support goodwill:

- On paid plans, automatic AI fixes are free; on Free they cost credits.
 - Reverting a bad change with the Revert button costs nothing, while asking the AI to undo it costs a new prompt.
 - Discuss mode costs about 0.3 credits a message, so diagnosing a bug there before switching to Build mode is cheaper.
 - Selecting an element in Edit mode before describing a UI change stops the AI from scanning the whole layout.
 - Stopping the AI before its first reply costs nothing.

A four-star Trustpilot reviewer, Craig McDowell, complained that the builder "burns tokens like wild fire" on bad output but said Base44 later added 250 credits to his account. Credit returns are discretionary, not a policy, so do not count on them.

## Does Base44 charge for hosting and the backend?

No separate hosting fee exists. Hosting, the database, authentication and file storage are included in every plan, including Free, and an all-in-one setup is one of the things positive reviewers like most. The costs sit in three places instead.

First, database size. For apps created from October 18, 2026, each plan caps database size per app, and the largest single record:

| Plan | Database size per app | Largest record |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | 200 MB | 100 KB |
| Starter | 2 GB | 100 KB |
| Builder | 5 GB | 100 KB |
| Pro | 10 GB | 250 KB |
| Elite | 25 GB | 250 KB |
| Business | 50 GB | 250 KB |
| Enterprise | No limit | 1 MB |

Source: [Base44 database limits](https://docs.base44.com/Building-your-app/Managing-your-app-data). When the database is full, your app cannot add new records, including imports, until you delete data or upgrade. Uploaded files are stored separately and do not count toward database size. Apps created before October 18, 2026 are not subject to these limits.

Second, the live app's running costs are billed as integration credits rather than as hosting. Every email, AI call, workflow step and push notification your users trigger draws from your monthly pool. A Trustpilot reviewer, Neil Willis, reported that "the looping logic ate up the integration credits quickly" after the AI built a workflow that kept firing. When integration credits run out, those features stop working for your users, who see a generic error.

Third, paid-only features. If you cancel, your workspace drops to Free at the end of the period. Free allows 5 apps, so if you have more, you choose which 5 stay published and the rest are unpublished ([Base44 billing docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Billing-and-plans)). Keeping a live app also means staying within Free's 200 MB database and 100 integration credits a month.

## What happens when you run out of Base44 credits?

When a credit pool hits zero, everything that uses it pauses until your next reset, unless you upgrade or top up.

Running out of message credits means you cannot send prompts to the AI builder until the reset. Running out of integration credits is more serious, because it affects your live app: any action that needs those credits fails, Base44 emails you, and your app's users see a generic error message with no mention of credits. A contact form that sends an email, or an AI feature in your app, simply stops working for them.

Your options when that happens:

- Upgrade mid-cycle. On monthly billing you pay the full price difference and get the new plan's credits right away, and unused credits carry over for one more cycle.
 - Buy a top-up. Paid plans can buy message or integration credit packs that last a year and are spent only after plan credits run out. Base44's docs note the feature is not open to all users yet ([top-up docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/credit-top-ups)).
 - Wait for the reset date.

The missing top-up is a long-running complaint. A Builder user on the feedback board wrote that they "consistently run out of credits well before my monthly reset date" and asked for top-ups or rollover instead of a forced upgrade ([feedback post](https://feedback.base44.com/p/add-credit-top-up-option-without-forcing-a-plan-upgrade)). Several other posts on the board ask for the same thing, which tells you how often mid-month blocks happen.

## Can you get a refund from Base44?

Rarely. Base44's terms make all services non-refundable, and annual plan fees are described as non-cancelable and non-refundable ([Base44 billing docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Billing-and-plans)). Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.

The one documented exception is an upgrade to the wrong plan or billing cycle by mistake. If you contact Customer Care quickly and the request is approved, you get a prorated refund minus processing fees. App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded by Apple and Google, not Base44.

This is where most one-star billing reviews come from. Users describe clicking the yearly option by accident and being charged a full year upfront. Daniel Yasemi wrote in October 2026: "I accidentally selected the annual Starter plan and was charged £173." Others report similar annual charges of $336 and $200 and say refund requests went unanswered or were declined. In fairness, a school reviewer charged $900 by an accidental yearly upgrade said support eventually corrected it. The takeaway is practical: double-check the billing toggle before paying, and if you make a mistake, contact support the same day.

Other billing rules worth knowing before you pay:

- You cannot switch a yearly plan back to monthly yourself.
 - Switching from monthly to yearly credits the unused part of the month against the yearly price, with no separate refund.
 - The free domain on yearly plans must be claimed within 60 days.
 - Plan changes and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.

To cancel, go to Settings, then General, then Plan & Subscriptions, open the actions menu on your plan and choose Cancel plan. Some reviewers say they could not find a way to cancel; the option exists in that menu.

## What does it cost to leave Base44?

More than the subscription itself, if your app has users. Base44 says you own your code, data and users, and exporting the source is available through GitHub sync or ZIP export on Builder and above. But Base44's own developer docs say the exported code uses the Base44 SDK to reach your app's backend on Base44 for data, logins, backend functions and integrations, and that Base44 does not support self-hosting ([developer tools docs](https://docs.base44.com/documentation/building-your-app/developer-tools)). The ZIP also leaves out your data, secrets, app users and version history.

In practice, that means exporting gives you a frontend that still runs against Base44. To leave completely, you or a developer have to replace the database, authentication and integrations with your own backend and rewrite the code that calls them. That is a real engineering project, not a download button. Some reviewers describe it more harshly: one Trustpilot reviewer complained that they could not get clean raw code out of the platform, and another said a custom domain stayed attached to an old app and could not be moved. Treat Base44 as a platform you rent, and price the exit before you build something you may need to move.

## Is the Base44 annual plan worth it?

Annual billing saves 20%, which is $48 to $480 a year depending on the tier, but you pay the full year upfront, cannot switch back to monthly, and cannot get a refund if the tier turns out wrong.

| Plan | 12 months billed monthly | 12 months billed yearly | You save |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Starter | $240 | $192 | $48 |
| Builder | $600 | $480 | $120 |
| Pro | $1,200 | $960 | $240 |
| Elite | $2,400 | $1,920 | $480 |

Annual makes sense once you have run a project for a month or two and know which tier your usage fits. Upgrading from one monthly plan to a higher monthly plan is also the only path where unused credits carry over, while upgrades involving a yearly plan let unused credits expire at the next reset ([Base44 docs](https://docs.base44.com/Account-and-billing/Credits)). Given how many complaints involve accidental annual charges, starting monthly is cheap insurance.

## What does it cost to put a Base44 app on the App Store?

Superapp's $25 Pro plan, with native Swift output and automated App Store publishing included, is the cheaper route if the goal is a real iPhone app; publishing a Base44 app itself takes the Builder plan plus Apple's developer fee, about $579 for the first year on annual billing or $699 paying monthly.

Base44 lets you scan an app against store guidelines on the Free plan, but downloading the App Store and Google Play files requires Builder or higher. Apple separately charges $99 a year for the [Apple Developer Program](https://developer.apple.com/help/account/membership/program-enrollment/), and Google Play has its own registration fee.

Know what you are paying for. Base44's documentation describes the mobile app as your published web app running inside a secure web view, a lightweight native wrapper. Push notifications can now be added when you generate the store files, at about one integration credit each. Full offline mode and HealthKit are not supported, and Base44 apps do not support Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing yet, so you cannot sell subscriptions or premium features inside the mobile app ([Base44 App Store docs](https://docs.base44.com/documentation/building-your-app/uploading-to-app-stores)). For many internal tools and booking apps that is fine. For a consumer app that plans to charge a subscription in the app, it is a hard limit.

## What does a Base44 app really cost per year?

The total depends far more on what you build and how often you re-prompt than on the sticker price. These four scenarios use Base44's published prices and credit estimates; the add-ons are typical outside costs, not Base44 charges.

| Scenario | Plan that fits | Base44, yearly billing | Base44, monthly billing | Likely extras |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Personal tool or hobby app | Starter | $192 | $240 | Usually none |
| Customer-facing web app with a domain and backend logic | Builder | $480 | $600 | Domain after year one, Stripe fees |
| App in the Apple App Store | Builder | $480 | $600 | $99 a year to Apple |
| AI-heavy app with active users | Pro or Elite | $960 to $1,920 | $1,200 to $2,400 | Your own AI provider if you bring keys |

The most common way to overshoot these numbers is fix loops pushing you up a tier mid-build. The second is an AI feature that becomes popular and drains integration credits, which your users feel as broken features before you see the bill.

## Which Base44 plan should you pick?

Most people building something real end up on Starter or Builder. Pick by what you need to unlock, then check that the credits cover your usage.

| If you are... | Pick | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Just exploring | Free | Enough to learn the workflow, but 5 credits a day runs out in one session |
| Building a first app or internal tool | Starter | Unlimited apps, code edits and your own domain from $16 |
| Shipping a customer-facing product | Builder | Backend functions, GitHub, code export and 5 GB database |
| Publishing to the App Store or Google Play | Builder | Store files are locked below Builder |
| Running an app with AI features and real users | Pro | 20,000 integration credits and 10 GB database |
| Building all day or running high traffic | Elite | 1,200 message credits and premium support |
| A team that needs SSO or backups | Business | Governance features, priced in the app |

If you are a student, a non-profit or an early-stage startup, ask first. Base44 offers education and non-profit pricing case by case, and its startup program gives accepted founders a free annual license and credits ([Base44 pricing FAQ](https://base44.com/pricing)).

## When is Base44 worth the price, and when should you skip it?

| | Pick instead | Pick Base44 if | Skip Base44 if |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| What you build | Superapp, for a native iPhone app with in-app subscriptions | A hosted web app, internal tool or portal | A native mobile app or a subscription app sold in-app |
| How you build | Superapp or Lovable, both roll over unused credits | You plan prompts and test in small steps | You expect to iterate by trial and error on a small plan |
| Budget | Superapp or Lovable, both offer top-ups on paid plans | You can absorb a tier jump if a month runs hot | You need a predictable, fixed monthly bill |
| Ownership | Superapp, which hands you a full Xcode project | You are happy to stay on Base44's backend | You need to self-host or move off later |
| Billing | Any tool, on monthly billing until you are sure | You start monthly and upgrade deliberately | You want refunds if it does not work out |

## What does Base44 get right on price?

Base44's complaints are real, but so is its value. The $16 Starter plan is one of the cheapest ways to get a working web app with a database, authentication and hosting in one place, and the Free plan includes the full core platform rather than a stripped demo. Product Hunt reviewers rate it 4.4 out of 5 across 41 reviews, largely for the build experience and the all-in-one setup, even as some note the free plan is tight; one, Nolan Vu, praised the built-in hosting and added, "The free plan is brutal though." Trustpilot is harsher, at 2.7 out of 5 from 925 reviews as of November 2026, with most low ratings about billing and credits rather than what the apps can do.

Base44 also publishes unusually detailed credit documentation: per-action estimates, model cost tiers, an Unusual spend card that flags apps whose usage jumped, and a per-message Credits Used readout. Users who read it before building tend to have a better time than those who discover the meters mid-project.

## How does Base44 pricing compare to other AI app builders?

Base44's $16 entry price is one of the lowest among AI app builders, but its credits expire every month, while Lovable and Superapp both let some unused credits roll over. Credit units are not comparable across tools, so compare what each plan unlocks and how it handles unused credits rather than raw credit counts.

| | Superapp | Base44 | Lovable |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Entry paid plan | Pro, $25/mo (50 credits) | Starter, $16/mo yearly or $20 monthly | Pro, from $25/mo (100 credits) |
| Next tier | Business, $50/mo (110 credits) | Builder, $40 or $50 | Business, from $50/mo |
| Free plan | Free credits to start, most countries | 25 message credits/mo, 5 apps | 5 daily build credits, up to 30/mo |
| Unused credits | 1x rollover | Expire at monthly reset | Roll over, expire 2 months after issue |
| Top-ups | Any paid plan, $18 for 30 credits | Paid plans, still rolling out | Pro and Business |
| What it builds | Native Swift iOS apps plus a website | Hosted web apps, mobile via web view | Full-stack web apps |
| Android | No | Yes, via web view | No native app |

As a disclosure, Superapp is our product, so weigh this accordingly. If the reason you are pricing Base44 is to get an iPhone app into the App Store, the comparison that matters is output, not credits. Superapp generates native Swift and a full Xcode project you own and can take anywhere, supports in-app subscriptions through RevenueCat, and includes automated App Store publishing on its $25 Pro plan, against Base44's web-view wrapper that starts at Builder and cannot sell in-app. Superapp is Apple-only, so it is the wrong pick if you need Android, and for a hosted web app with a built-in backend, Base44 or Lovable is the more direct tool. ## How to keep your Base44 bill down

These habits come from Base44's own credit guidance and from the mistakes users describe:

1. Start on monthly billing. Switch to yearly only once you know your tier, because yearly is non-refundable and cannot be reversed.
 2. Plan before you prompt. Base44 recommends outlining features and writing a clear prompt first, even drafting it with another AI tool.
 3. Keep prompts narrow. Name the page, component or function you want changed instead of asking for app-wide changes.
 4. Use Discuss mode to debug. At about 0.3 credits a message, it is the cheapest way to figure out why something broke.
 5. Revert, do not re-prompt. Undoing a bad change with Revert is free; asking the AI to undo it is not.
 6. Stop auto-fix loops early. Base44 suggests trying automatic fix once or twice, then switching to Discuss mode.
 7. Use your own API keys for AI and email in backend functions, which keeps those calls off your integration credits.
 8. Watch the Unusual spend card and per-message Credits Used to catch runaway workflows before your users hit errors.

Yes, Base44 has a free plan with 25 message credits a month (capped at 5 a day), 100 integration credits, up to 5 apps and a 200 MB database per app. It includes the core builder, database and authentication, but it is meant for trying the platform rather than running a real app.

**What is the difference between message credits and integration credits?**
Message credits are spent when you prompt the AI to build or change your app, typically 0.5 to 4 credits per prompt. Integration credits are spent when your live app uses Base44 services such as email, image generation, LLM calls or in-app AI agents, typically about 1 to 3 credits per action.

**Do Base44 credits roll over?**
No. Message and integration credits reset monthly on your subscription date and unused credits expire. The only exception is upgrading from one monthly plan to a higher monthly plan mid-cycle, where unused credits carry over for one more cycle.

**Does Base44 charge credits when the AI makes a mistake?**
Yes. Every prompt uses message credits even if the result is wrong, and Base44 says credits are non-refundable for AI mistakes. On paid plans automatic AI fixes are free, and reverting a change costs nothing, so revert rather than re-prompting.

**Why are my Base44 credits running out so fast?**
The usual causes are fix loops, broad prompts that touch many files, choosing premium AI models, and live-app features such as AI agents or looping workflows draining integration credits. Check Credits Used on each message and the Unusual spend card to find the source.

**Can you buy extra Base44 credits?**
Paid plans can buy message or integration credit top-ups that stay valid for one year and are used after plan credits run out. Base44's documentation says the top-up feature is not open to all users yet, so some accounts must upgrade instead.

**Does Base44 charge extra for hosting?**
No. Hosting, the database, authentication and file storage are included in every plan. The limits are database size per app, from 200 MB on Free to 25 GB on Elite, and integration credits for the services your live app calls.

**What happens to my Base44 apps if I cancel?**
You keep your plan until the end of the billing period, then the workspace moves to Free. Free allows 5 apps, so if you have more you choose which 5 stay published and the rest are unpublished. Canceling does not refund the current period.

**Can I get a refund from Base44?**
Generally no. Base44's terms make services non-refundable, and annual fees are non-cancelable. The exception is upgrading to the wrong plan or billing cycle by mistake: contact Customer Care quickly and, if approved, you get a prorated refund minus processing fees.

**Which Base44 plan do I need to publish to the App Store?**
You need Builder or higher to download App Store and Google Play files, plus Apple's $99 yearly developer fee. The published app runs your Base44 web app inside a native wrapper and does not yet support Apple In-App Purchase.

**Can I export my code and leave Base44?**
On Builder and above you can sync to GitHub or download a ZIP. The exported code still uses the Base44 SDK for data, logins and backend functions, and Base44 does not support self-hosting, so leaving fully means rebuilding the backend.

**Is Base44 annual billing worth it?**
Annual billing saves 20%, for example $480 instead of $600 a year on Builder. It is worth it once you know which tier you need, because yearly fees are non-refundable, cannot be switched to monthly, and unused credits still expire.

**Are there hidden costs with Base44?**
Base44 charges no platform fees beyond the plan, but users commonly pay for AI mistakes in credits, hit database or integration limits that force an upgrade, and pay outside services such as Stripe and Apple separately. Exporting off the platform also requires a backend rebuild.

**How much does a Base44 app cost per year?**
A personal app on Starter costs $192 to $240 a year. A customer-facing app or App Store app on Builder costs $480 to $600, plus $99 to Apple for the App Store. An AI-heavy app with active users on Pro or Elite costs $960 to $2,400.

**What is the Base44 Business plan?**
Business sits above Elite and is sold in six credit sizes, from 2,400 to 5,400 message credits and 96,000 to 216,000 integration credits a month. It adds SSO, data residency, 30-day backups and per-member credit limits. Its price is shown in the app, not on the public pricing page.

**Is Base44 cheaper than Lovable?**
On entry price, yes: Base44 Starter is $16 to $20 a month against Lovable Pro from $25. But Lovable rolls over unused plan credits and offers top-ups on paid plans, while Base44 credits expire monthly, so heavy or uneven users may pay more on Base44.

**Does Base44 have a student or startup discount?**
Base44 offers education and non-profit pricing case by case, and its startup program gives accepted founders a free annual license and credits. Ask before buying a yearly plan, since yearly fees are non-refundable.
