## Softr Pricing: The Short Answer

Softr has a free plan, Basic at $19 a month, Pro at $99 a month and Business at $329 a month when billed annually ($25, $119 and $395 billed monthly), plus custom Enterprise pricing. Unlike AI builders that charge by the prompt, Softr charges mostly by people: each plan includes a set number of builders, team users and client users, and extra users are billed automatically each month. Since a repricing on August 5, 2026, those included user allowances are much smaller for new customers. Below you will find every plan, what extra users, builders, domains and AI credits cost, what real users say, and how Softr's pricing compares to Superapp, Lovable and Base44.

> **Quick answer: how much does Softr cost?** As of November 2026, Softr costs $0 (Free), $19 a month for Basic, $99 for Pro and $329 for Business, billed annually, or $25, $119 and $395 billed monthly, with custom Enterprise pricing. Basic includes 1 builder and 5 team plus 5 client users; Pro includes 2 builders, 10 team and 50 client users; Business includes 3 builders, 30 team and 100 client users. Extra users cost $1 to $5 each a month on Pro and Business, extra builders $5 to $24 and extra domains $13 to $15. AI credits run from 5 to 100 a month. For a native iPhone app rather than a web portal, a native-Swift builder like Superapp is the more direct route.

Prices below were checked on November 4, 2026 against Softr's [pricing and plans documentation](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans) and [AI credits documentation](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/ai-credits). User voices come from the [Softr community forum](https://community.softr.io/), [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/softr.io), [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/208998/Softr/reviews/) and [Product Hunt](https://www.producthunt.com/products/softr/reviews).

## How much does each Softr plan cost?

| Plan | Price, billed yearly | Price, billed monthly | Builders | Team users included | Client users included | Built for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | $0 | Up to 3 | 5 users in total | Counted in the 5 | Testing and learning |
| Basic | $19 | $25 | 1 | 5 | 5 | A small internal tool or simple portal |
| Pro | $99 | $119 | 2 | 10, up to 50 | 50, up to 250 | Growing teams and client portals |
| Business | $329 | $395 | 3 | 30, up to 100 | 100, up to 500 | Larger portals and departments |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | SSO, SCIM, audit logs, compliance |

Source: [Softr pricing and plans](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans). Team users are your own staff; client users are the external people who log in to your portal or app.

Softr offers a 7-day free trial, extended to 14 days if you add a card, and a 50% discount for non-profits and education.

Many guides online still quote older prices, such as Basic at $49, Professional at $139 or $167, or Business at $269. Those were earlier plans. Existing customers can keep legacy plans, but new customers buy the plans above.

## What do extra users, builders and domains cost?

Softr's add-on prices matter as much as the plan price, because most real portals outgrow the included allowances.

| Add-on | Basic | Pro | Business |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Extra team user, per month | Not available | $3 | $5 |
| Extra client user, per month | Not available | $1 | $2 |
| Maximum team users | 5 | 50 | 100 |
| Maximum client users | 5 | 250 | 500 |
| Extra builder, per month (yearly / monthly) | $5 / $6 | $10 / $12 | $20 / $24 |
| Extra custom domain, per month (yearly / monthly) | $13 / $15 | $13 / $15 | $13 / $15 |
| Custom user groups | Not listed | 3 | 10 |

Source: [Softr pricing and plans](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans).

Two limits in this table drive most upgrades. Basic cannot add users at all, so a sixth client means moving to Pro. And Pro caps out at 250 client users, so a portal with 300 clients must move to Business, whatever it costs per user.

## What does each Softr plan include?

| Feature | Free | Basic | Pro | Business |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Builders | Up to 3 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| Users | 5 in total | 5 team, 5 client | 10 team, 50 client | 30 team, 100 client |
| Custom domains | None | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| AI credits a month | 5 | 10 | 50 | 100 |
| Workflow actions a month | 500 | 2,500 | 10,000 | 25,000 |
| Database records | 5,000 | 50,000 | 500,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Custom user groups | None | Not listed | 3 | 10 |
| Installable mobile app (PWA) | No | No | No | Yes, with push notifications |
| SSO, SCIM, audit logs | No | No | No | Enterprise only |

Sources: [Softr pricing and plans](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans), [AI credits](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/ai-credits). Workflow, record and PWA limits are from a third-party review that checked them against Softr's pricing page in October 2026 ([JavisReview](https://javisreview.com/review/softr-review-2026/)); confirm them on softr.io before buying. Since March 2026, all plans allow unlimited published apps, according to Softr staff on the community forum.

## How does Softr's user-based pricing work?

Softr counts users at the workspace level and checks usage once a day. When you first go over your plan's allowance, Softr emails the workspace owner and starts a 7-day grace period; after that, extra users are billed monthly and prorated ([pricing docs](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans)).

The rules that matter for your bill:

- Team users and client users are counted and priced separately, so a portal with few staff and many clients pays mostly client rates.
 - Each plan has a maximum. Above it, you can still create users, but they stay deactivated until you free up space or upgrade.
 - If a payment for extra users fails, all users beyond the allowance are deactivated after a retry grace period.
 - There are no mid-cycle refunds when you downgrade or drop users; unused packs are removed at your next renewal.

This model is very different from AI builders such as Lovable or Base44, where you pay for building. On Softr, building is cheap and predictable; your bill grows with the number of people who log in.

## What does Softr really charge for beyond the plan price?

| Hidden cost | What it is | Who pays it | How to limit it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Extra users | Every login above the allowance is billed monthly | Portals with many clients | Pick the plan whose included users fit |
| Plan maximums | Basic cannot add users; Pro tops out at 250 clients | Growing portals | Plan the jump before you hit the cap |
| Extra builders | Each extra editor is a monthly fee | Teams building together | Keep editors to the included seats |
| Extra domains | One custom domain per plan; more cost $13 to $15 each | Agencies and multi-brand teams | Use subpaths or one domain where possible |
| AI credits | 5 to 100 a month; add-ons are subscriptions | Builders using AI features | Edit blocks by hand instead of with AI |
| Workflow limits | Workflows pause at the monthly action limit | Automation-heavy apps | Check the action count before launch |
| Feature gates | Exports, user groups and the PWA sit on higher plans | Small teams on Basic or Pro | List must-have features first |
| Data source costs | Airtable, Google Sheets and other sources bill separately | Apps built on external data | Use Softr's own database if it fits |
| Mobile | An installable app is a PWA, listed on Business only | Teams wanting a phone app | Decide whether a PWA is enough |

The sections below cover each, with what Softr's documentation says and what users report.

## What did Softr's August 2026 pricing change do?

On August 5, 2026, Softr launched new pricing for new customers. It separated team users from client users, introduced pay-as-you-go billing for extra users with a 7-day grace period, and raised the non-profit discount from 30% to 50%. Existing paying customers, including monthly subscribers, kept their plans ([Softr community announcement](https://community.softr.io/t/updates-to-our-pricing-plans/16811)).

The community reaction focused on how many users the new plans include:

| User | When | What they said |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Matthew | August 2026 | "Wild that a year ago the business plan got you 2,500 users." He said Business had been just over $300 for 2,500 users, against almost $400 for 130 now |
| JadedJared | August 2026 | "So it seems to be cheaper, but we get less." |
| TobyMacLeod | August 2026 | "We're now down to 100 included external users." He described about a 99% drop from 10,000 |
| PeterG | August 2026 | "Export CSV & PDF is not allowed for the Basic plan." |
| Ben | August 2026 | "Decreasing plan users improves Softr's customer segmentation more." |

Source: [Softr community](https://community.softr.io/t/updates-to-our-pricing-plans/16811). These are users' own figures, not audited comparisons.

Softr's CEO, Mariam Hakobyan, engaged with the criticism in the same thread. Asked why Softr did not move to pure usage-based pricing with unlimited users, she said such a model "doesn't translate as well to app-based use cases." TobyMacLeod had proposed a $19 builder plan with hosting tiers and unlimited users; that was his suggestion, not Softr's pricing.

The practical takeaway: if you are on a legacy plan with large user allowances, moving to a new plan may cost you more. Check what you would lose before changing plans.

## How do Softr AI credits work?

Every Softr plan includes a monthly pool of AI credits shared by all AI features: 5 on Free, 10 on Basic, 50 on Pro and 100 on Business. Credits are used by Ask AI and Database AI Agents, and by the AI chat when it creates or edits a block. Usage depends on the model, the task and the size of the input and output, and Softr does not publish credits per action ([AI credits docs](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/ai-credits)).

What happens at the edges:

- Included credits reset each month and do not roll over.
 - Paid plans can buy more through credit add-ons, which are subscriptions, not one-time packs. Unused add-on credits roll over for one month. Add-ons are not available on legacy plans.
 - When credits run out, AI features pause and you are not charged. They resume at your next billing cycle or immediately if you buy an add-on.
 - Editing a block through code or the settings panel uses no credits, according to Softr staff.

The March 2026 change caused confusion. Softr changed the value of its AI credits so that 100 old credits equal 1 new credit, and moved its vibe-coding block from a free beta to paid credits. On the community forum, sarah_h, a Business customer, wrote that she saw "very limited AI credits only 100 on the Business Plan" with no notice, after using 60 of them in one day on a few charts, and said "I have had no communication about the charges." A Softr staff member replied: "There was no pricing change," explaining that the credit value had changed while prices had not; another linked the CEO's announcement email. Tuur agreed with sarah_h: "My thoughts exactly." A later user, ariefw, reported a fixed minimum of about 0.15 credits per AI request ([community thread](https://community.softr.io/t/ai-pricing-changes-no-notification-from-softr/16045)).

Reviews echo the difficulty of tracking credits. Creative Boost wrote on Trustpilot in July 2026: "Credit consumption is extremely difficult to monitor or manage." A Capterra reviewer in IT support wrote: "The cost for using the AI feature, hope to see it facilitated."

## What does a Softr app really cost? Worked examples

These examples apply Softr's published plan and add-on prices to common setups (our arithmetic, billed yearly, before taxes and data-source costs).

| Setup | Plan | Monthly cost | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Internal tool for 4 staff | Basic | $19 | Fits the 5 team users |
| Internal tool for 8 staff | Pro | $99 | Basic cannot add a sixth user |
| Client portal with 6 clients | Pro | $99 | Basic stops at 5 clients |
| Client portal with 200 clients | Pro | $249 | $99 plus 150 extra clients at $1 |
| Client portal with 300 clients | Business | $729 | Pro tops out at 250; $329 plus 200 extra clients at $2 |
| Team tool for 25 staff | Pro | $144 | $99 plus 15 extra team users at $3 |
| Portal with 3 builders on Pro | Pro | $109 | $99 plus one extra builder at $10 |
| Agency with 3 client domains on Pro | Pro | $125 | $99 plus two extra domains at $13 |

The 300-client row shows the biggest jump in Softr's pricing: crossing Pro's 250-client maximum more than doubles the bill, because you move to Business and pay a higher price per extra client.

## How do Softr's costs grow with users?

| Client users | Cheapest plan | Monthly cost, billed yearly |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 5 | Basic | $19 |
| 50 | Pro | $99 |
| 100 | Pro | $149 |
| 250 | Pro | $299 |
| 251 | Business | $631 |
| 400 | Business | $929 |
| 500 | Business | $1,129 |
| Over 500 | Enterprise | Custom |

Our arithmetic from [Softr's published prices](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans), assuming team users stay within the included allowance. Crossing 250 clients is the expensive moment: Business includes only 100 clients, so the 251st client takes the bill from $299 to about $631, and each further client costs $2 instead of $1.

JL, a five-star Trustpilot reviewer, summed up the trade-off in September 2026: "It does get expensive as your user base scales," while adding that hiring engineers instead "makes that monthly plan seem quite worth it."

## What do real users say about Softr's price?

Softr is one of the best-reviewed builders in this space: 4.7 out of 5 from 752 reviews on G2, 4.8 from 25 on Capterra, 4.7 from 68 on Product Hunt and 4.4 from 74 on Trustpilot, as of November 2026. Cost complaints are far less common than for AI builders such as Bolt or Replit, and they focus on user limits and plan jumps rather than surprise bills.

| User and source | When | What they report | In their words |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| JL, Trustpilot | September 2026 | Costs rise with users, but cheaper than engineers | "It does get expensive as your user base scales" |
| Paul Leonard, Trustpilot | August 2026 | Will not renew | "Over-priced, buggy and the tech don't seem to care" |
| Creative Boost, Trustpilot | July 2026 | AI credits hard to track, outages without warnings | "Credit consumption is extremely difficult to monitor or manage" |
| Yuriy, Product Hunt | 2025 | Had to upgrade to Professional at $167 for custom user groups | Paraphrased: a limit that only showed up during setup |
| AJ Martin, Product Hunt | 2023 | Real use needs a paid plan | "stating the price is FREE is quite misleading" |
| J M, Product Hunt | 2022 | Expensive but worth it | "I dont care about the high price of the plan I need" |
| R, Capterra | February 2025 | AI features cost extra | "The cost for using the AI feature, hope to see it facilitated." |
| Jesuena Estoque Reimer, Trustpilot | May 2026 | Replaced other SaaS tools and hiring | "Worth the investment? Absolutely." |
| Stichting Donateursbelangen, Trustpilot | May 2026 | Built a donor platform cheaply | "without needing a team of developers or a huge investment." |

Sources: [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/softr.io), [Product Hunt](https://www.producthunt.com/products/softr/reviews), [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/208998/Softr/reviews/).

Softr responded to AJ Martin's complaint on Product Hunt, with Mariam Hakobyan writing that "the Free plan clearly states the limits it comes with" and that it is meant for testing rather than production. That is fair: Softr's free plan, with 5 users in total, is a trial, not a home for a live portal.

## Is the Softr free plan enough?

For learning and testing, yes. For anything with real users, rarely. Free includes up to 3 builders but only 5 users in total, no custom domain, 5 AI credits, 500 workflow actions and 5,000 records a month. A portal with a handful of clients and staff will hit the user limit almost immediately.

The free plan is still useful: you can build the full app, invite a few testers and decide whether Softr fits before paying. If you add a card at signup, the paid trial runs 14 days instead of 7.

## Basic, Pro or Business: which plan saves money?

| If you have... | Basic | Pro | Business |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Up to 5 staff and 5 clients | $19, the cheapest | $99 | $329 |
| 6 to 50 clients | Not possible | $99 | $329 |
| 51 to 250 clients | Not possible | $99 plus $1 per extra client | $329 if under 100, plus $2 above |
| 251 to 500 clients | Not possible | Not possible | $329 plus $2 per extra client |
| Need for an installable phone app | No | No | Yes, as a PWA |
| Need for SSO | No | No | Enterprise only |

Pro is the right default for most portals: it is the first plan that can grow, and it stays cheaper than Business up to 250 clients. Business makes sense when you need more than 250 clients, more than 50 staff, more than 10 user groups, or the installable mobile app.

## Is the Softr annual plan worth it?

| Plan | 12 months monthly | 12 months yearly | You save |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Basic | $300 | $228 | $72 |
| Pro | $1,428 | $1,188 | $240 |
| Business | $4,740 | $3,948 | $792 |

Annual billing saves about 17% to 24%. Softr's refund window is also longer on yearly plans: a full refund within 30 days of the first payment, against 14 days on monthly plans ([pricing docs](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans)). That makes annual billing less risky than on most builders, provided you decide within the first month.

## Can you get a refund from Softr?

Yes, within a window. Softr offers a full refund within 14 days of the first payment on monthly plans and within 30 days on yearly plans, requested by email to [support@softr.io](mailto:support@softr.io). There are no mid-cycle refunds when you downgrade or remove users, and unused add-on packs are removed at your next renewal ([pricing docs](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans)).

When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you can re-activate it until then. Afterwards, the workspace returns to the Free plan ([billing docs](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/billing)), where only 5 users can log in, so a live portal effectively stops working for most of its users.

## Do your data sources cost extra?

Often, yes. Many Softr apps are built on top of Airtable, Google Sheets or another data source, and those services bill you separately on their own pricing. Softr markets its own built-in database as a way to avoid per-seat data costs, and it compares itself directly with Airtable's per-seat pricing ([Softr vs Airtable](https://www.softr.io/softr-vs-airtable)).

If you start on an external source, include its cost in your budget, especially if it charges per seat for the same team members who use your Softr app. One community member, Ben, argued that Softr's August 2026 pricing was positioned partly around expected changes at Airtable, since many Softr users build on it. That is his reading, not Softr's statement.

## Does Softr charge for workflows and automations?

Workflows are included, with a monthly cap on actions: about 500 on Free, 2,500 on Basic, 10,000 on Pro and 25,000 on Business, according to a third-party review of Softr's pricing page ([JavisReview](https://javisreview.com/review/softr-review-2026/)). Triggers and flow controls do not count toward the limit. When you hit it, workflows pause until the limit renews or you upgrade ([pricing docs](https://docs.softr.io/workspace-and-billing/pricing-and-plans)).

That pause is the main risk. A portal that sends a welcome email, updates a record and notifies a team member uses several actions per signup, so a busy month can stop automations quietly. Users on legacy plans have asked the community where their workflow limits are documented, so check yours before relying on automations.

## What support do you get at each Softr price?

Support is one of Softr's strengths in reviews. Lucija Remic wrote in August 2026: "Great tool and unbelievable customer support!" Kai Leingang said a page issue was fixed in about five minutes: "Also the support is unbelievably quick." The dissenting view is Paul Leonard's, who called the product over-priced and said the team did not seem to care.

Enterprise adds the heavier support and compliance package: SSO, SCIM, audit logs, SOC 2 access and custom integrations. sarah_h mentioned on the community forum that an SSO quote came in at about double her current cost, so budget accordingly if single sign-on is a requirement.

## What does it cost to get a Softr app on a phone?

Superapp builds a native Swift iPhone app and includes automated App Store publishing on its $25 Pro plan; Softr does not build native mobile apps. Softr apps are responsive web apps, and an installable progressive web app (PWA) with push notifications is listed on the Business plan at $329 a month, according to a third-party review of Softr's pricing page ([JavisReview](https://javisreview.com/review/softr-review-2026/)). Third-party tools can add PWA features or web push to Softr apps on other plans.

A PWA installs from the browser to a phone's home screen. It is not listed in the App Store, and it has more limited access to iPhone features than a native app. For an internal tool or client portal, that is usually fine. For a consumer app that people will search for in the App Store, a native app is the better route.

## How has Softr's pricing changed?

| When | Change | Effect on cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| February 6, 2023 | Plans later called legacy introduced | Large user allowances |
| August 14, 2024 | New pricing for new users; internal and external users merged; $1 per extra user in packs of 10 on Professional | Existing customers kept their plans |
| November 30, 2024 | Last day for free workspaces to take a legacy paid plan | Legacy plans closed to new buyers |
| March 2026 | AI credits revalued, 100 old credits to 1 new; vibe-coding block moved to paid credits; unlimited published apps | AI use metered more tightly |
| August 5, 2026 | Team and client users separated; pay-as-you-go extra users with 7-day grace; non-profit discount to 50% | Smaller included user allowances for new customers |

Sources: [Softr blog](https://www.softr.io/blog/pricing-updates-2024), [community: AI credits](https://community.softr.io/t/ai-pricing-changes-no-notification-from-softr/16045), [community: August 2026](https://community.softr.io/t/updates-to-our-pricing-plans/16811). A third-party tracker recorded paid Softr plans from $49 to $269 a month in March 2026, before the August repricing ([CostBench](https://www.costbench.com/software/no-code/softr/price-history/)).

## Which Softr plan should you pick?

| If you are... | Pick | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Trying Softr | Free | Build fully, test with up to 5 users |
| A solo builder with a tiny internal tool | Basic | $19, 5 staff and 5 clients |
| A small team or a portal for up to 250 clients | Pro | Add users as you grow, 2 builders |
| A portal for 250 to 500 clients | Business | Higher caps, 10 user groups |
| A team wanting a phone app for staff | Business | Installable PWA with push notifications |
| A non-profit or school | Any plan with the 50% discount | Apply before buying |
| A company needing SSO | Enterprise | SSO, SCIM, audit logs |

## When is Softr worth the price, and when should you skip it?

| | Pick instead | Pick Softr if | Skip Softr if |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| What you build | Superapp, for a native iPhone app | A client portal, internal tool or business app on your data | You need a native mobile app in the App Store |
| How you build | Lovable, for custom web apps from prompts | You want blocks and visual building, not prompting | You need fully custom code and design |
| Users | Base44, which does not charge per user | A known, modest number of logins | You expect thousands of users on a small budget |
| Budget | Superapp or Base44, with flat plan prices | You can price per user into what you charge clients | Per-user costs would break your business model |
| Data | Softr's own database to avoid external seats | Your data already lives in Airtable or Sheets | You want no outside data costs |

## Is Softr's pricing fair?

The case for: Softr's plan prices are published, simple and stable, and building does not cost per prompt, so there are no surprise bills from AI fix loops. You get a grace period before extra users are billed, a refund window of 14 to 30 days, a 50% non-profit discount, and AI features that pause rather than charge when credits run out. Many reviewers call it worth the money against hiring developers.

The case against: user allowances on new plans are small, and the limits hit at awkward points. Basic cannot add users, Pro stops at 250 clients, the installable app sits on Business, and extra domains and builders are monthly fees. Long-time users have watched included users fall sharply across the 2024 and 2026 repricings, and AI credits were revalued in a way some customers did not notice.

A fair reading: Softr is good value for portals and tools with a predictable number of users, especially internal ones. It is expensive for apps whose user count is large or hard to predict.

## What does Softr get right on price?

No prompt-based billing: building, editing and publishing do not consume credits unless you use the AI features. Since March 2026, every plan allows unlimited published apps. Hosting is included, Softr's own database avoids per-seat data costs, and the refund window is generous compared with AI builders. Reviewers repeatedly cite value against developers: Stichting Donateursbelangen built a donor platform "without needing a team of developers or a huge investment," and Jesuena Estoque Reimer asked "Worth the investment? Absolutely."

## Softr vs Lovable vs Base44: which costs less?

These three price very different things: Softr charges by users, Lovable and Base44 by AI usage.

| | Softr | Lovable | Base44 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Entry paid plan | Basic, $19 yearly or $25 monthly | Pro, $25/mo | Starter, $16 yearly or $20 monthly |
| What drives cost | Users, builders, domains | Credits per prompt, plus Cloud usage | Message and integration credits |
| Users | 5 team and 5 client on Basic; extra users from $1 a month on Pro | Not charged per user | Not charged per user |
| AI fix loops | Not charged unless you use AI features | Charged | Charged |
| Refunds | 14 days monthly, 30 days yearly | Non-refundable | Non-refundable |
| Best for | Portals and internal tools on business data | Custom web apps | Hosted web apps |

## How does Softr pricing compare to other app builders?

Softr, Superapp and Lovable build different things, so compare what each plan produces rather than unit counts.

| | Superapp | Softr | Lovable |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |

As a disclosure, Superapp is our product, so weigh this accordingly. If you are pricing Softr because you want an app your customers download from the App Store, Superapp generates a native Swift iPhone app and a full Xcode project you own, with automated App Store publishing on a flat $25 plan and no per-user fees. For client portals and internal tools built on business data, Softr is the more direct tool, and Superapp does not build portals or Android apps. ## Softr budget worksheet: answer these before choosing a plan

| Question | Why it matters | Where it hits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| How many staff will log in? | Team users are capped and billed per person | Basic 5, Pro 50, Business 100 maximum |
| How many clients will log in in year one? | Client users drive most portal bills | Pro 250, Business 500 maximum |
| How many people will build? | Extra builders are monthly fees | 1, 2 or 3 included |
| How many custom domains? | One per plan; more are $13 to $15 each | Agencies and multi-brand teams |
| Will you use AI features? | 5 to 100 credits a month; add-ons are subscriptions | Pro and Business |
| How many workflow actions per month? | Workflows pause at the limit | Automation-heavy portals |
| Where does your data live? | External sources bill separately | Airtable, Sheets |
| Do you need a phone app? | Installable PWA listed on Business | Mobile use cases |

## Decide in five questions

1. Is this a portal or internal tool on business data? If yes, Softr fits well.
 2. Will more than 250 clients log in? If yes, budget for Business and its higher per-client price.
 3. Will your user count be large or unpredictable? If yes, compare builders that do not charge per user.
 4. Is the main goal an app in the App Store? If yes, compare a native-Swift builder with publishing included, such as Superapp.
 5. Are you a non-profit or school? If yes, apply for the 50% discount before buying.

## How to keep your Softr bill down

1. Start on monthly billing during the trial, and switch to yearly within the 30-day refund window once you are sure.
 2. Count team and client users separately and choose the plan whose included users fit your first year.
 3. Remove inactive users regularly, since extra users are billed monthly.
 4. Keep builders to the included seats; give others view access instead of edit access.
 5. Use one custom domain with subpaths where possible.
 6. Edit blocks by hand or in settings rather than with the AI chat to save credits.
 7. Count workflow actions per signup and per day before launch.
 8. Use Softr's own database if per-seat costs at your data source would add up.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**How much does Softr cost per month?**
Softr is free to start. Basic costs $19 a month billed yearly or $25 monthly, Pro $99 yearly or $119 monthly, and Business $329 yearly or $395 monthly. Enterprise pricing is custom.

**Is Softr free?**
Yes, Softr has a free plan with up to 3 builders, 5 users in total, 5 AI credits a month and no custom domain. It is meant for testing; any portal with more than a handful of users needs a paid plan.

**How many users does each Softr plan include?**
Basic includes 5 team and 5 client users. Pro includes 10 team and 50 client users, Business 30 team and 100 client users. Free includes 5 users in total.

**How much do extra users cost on Softr?**
On Pro, extra team users cost $3 and extra client users $1 a month each. On Business, they cost $5 and $2. Basic cannot add users. Pro allows up to 50 team and 250 client users, Business up to 100 and 500.

**What is the difference between team users and client users?**
Team users are your own staff who use the app; client users are external people, such as customers, who log in to your portal. Softr counts and prices them separately, and client users are cheaper.

**What happens if I go over my Softr user limit?**
Softr checks usage daily, emails the owner the first time you go over, and starts a 7-day grace period. Extra users are then billed monthly. Above the plan's maximum, new users stay deactivated until you free space or upgrade.

**How much does an extra builder cost on Softr?**
Extra builders cost $5 a month yearly or $6 monthly on Basic, $10 or $12 on Pro, and $20 or $24 on Business. Basic includes 1 builder, Pro 2 and Business 3.

**How much do extra custom domains cost on Softr?**
Each paid plan includes one custom domain. Extra domains cost $13 a month billed yearly or $15 billed monthly.

**How do Softr AI credits work?**
Free includes 5 AI credits a month, Basic 10, Pro 50 and Business 100, shared by all AI features. They reset monthly. When they run out, AI features pause without charging you, and you can buy credit add-ons as a subscription.

**Why did my Softr AI credits drop from 10,000 to 100?**
In March 2026, Softr changed the value of AI credits so that 100 old credits equal 1 new credit, without changing prices. A balance of 10,000 old credits became 100 new ones.

**Does Softr charge for AI mistakes?**
Softr only uses credits for AI features such as Ask AI, Database AI Agents and the AI chat editing blocks. Building with blocks, settings or code uses no credits, so there are no prompt-based fix-loop charges for normal building.

**What changed in Softr's August 2026 pricing?**
New plans separate team and client users, bill extra users pay-as-you-go after a 7-day grace period, and raise the non-profit discount to 50%. Included user allowances are smaller than on legacy plans. Existing customers keep their plans.

**Should I keep my legacy Softr plan?**
If your legacy plan includes more users than a new plan would, probably yes. Softr says existing customers keep their plans, and community members report that older plans included far more users for a similar price.

**Is Softr Basic worth it?**
For a small internal tool with up to 5 staff and 5 clients, yes, at $19 a month billed yearly. It cannot add users, so any growth means moving to Pro.

**Is Softr Pro worth it?**
For most client portals, yes. Pro at $99 a month billed yearly includes 2 builders, 10 team and 50 client users, and can grow to 250 clients at $1 each a month.

**When do I need Softr Business?**
When you need more than 250 client users or 50 team users, more than 10 custom user groups, or the installable mobile app. Business costs $329 a month billed yearly.

**How much does a Softr client portal cost?**
A portal with 50 clients fits Pro at $99 a month. With 200 clients it costs about $249 on Pro, and with 300 clients about $729 on Business, billed yearly (our arithmetic from Softr's prices).

**Does Softr charge per user?**
Yes, above each plan's included allowance. Extra team users cost $3 to $5 a month and extra client users $1 to $2 a month on Pro and Business.

**Can I get a refund from Softr?**
Yes, within a window: a full refund within 14 days of the first payment on monthly plans and 30 days on yearly plans, by emailing [support@softr.io](mailto:support@softr.io). There are no mid-cycle refunds for downgrades.

**What happens when I cancel Softr?**
Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you can re-activate until then. Afterwards, the workspace returns to the Free plan, which allows only 5 users in total.

**Is the Softr annual plan worth it?**
Annual billing saves about 17% to 24%, for example $1,188 instead of $1,428 a year on Pro. With a 30-day refund window on yearly plans, it is lower risk than on most builders.

**Does Softr offer a free trial?**
Yes. Paid plans include a 7-day free trial, extended to 14 days if you add a card.

**Does Softr have a non-profit discount?**
Yes. Non-profits and education get 50% off. Softr raised the non-profit discount from 30% to 50% in August 2026.

**Does Softr charge for workflows?**
Workflows are included with a monthly action limit that rises by plan, from about 500 on Free to 25,000 on Business per a third-party review. When the limit is hit, workflows pause until it renews or you upgrade.

**How many records can a Softr database hold?**
A third-party review of Softr's pricing page lists 5,000 records on Free, 50,000 on Basic, 500,000 on Pro and 1 million on Business. Confirm current limits on softr.io before buying.

**Can Softr make a mobile app?**
Softr builds responsive web apps. An installable progressive web app with push notifications is listed on the Business plan. Softr does not build native iPhone or Android apps for the app stores.

**Does Softr include SSO?**
SSO, SCIM and audit logs are part of Enterprise, which is custom-priced. One community member said an SSO quote came in at about double her existing cost.

**Do Airtable or Google Sheets cost extra with Softr?**
Yes. If your Softr app uses Airtable, Google Sheets or another external data source, that service bills you on its own pricing. Softr's own database avoids those separate costs.

**Is Softr cheaper than Lovable or Base44?**
For a small internal tool, Softr Basic at $19 is cheaper and has no prompt costs. For apps with many users, Lovable and Base44 do not charge per user, so they can be cheaper as user counts grow.

**Is Softr worth the money?**
For portals and internal tools with a predictable number of users, reviewers broadly say yes, especially compared with hiring developers. For apps with thousands of users on a tight budget, per-user pricing makes it expensive.
