## Software to Develop iOS Apps: The Short Answer

Superapp, Xcode, Flutter, React Native and a handful of supporting tools cover almost every way to develop an iOS app in 2026. Which software you need depends on one question first: will you write code? If not, an AI app builder that generates native code, such as Superapp, or a visual no-code builder does the building, testing and publishing in one place. If you do write code, Apple's free Xcode is the center of the toolkit, with optional cross-platform frameworks, AI coding assistants, a backend, TestFlight for testing and an automation tool for releases. Every route ends in the same place: Apple's 99 USD yearly developer membership and App Store review.

> **Quick answer: What software do you need to develop an iOS app?** Superapp users need only a web browser: Superapp turns a plain-English description into a native Swift app for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, includes a backend for logins, data and storage, and prepares and submits the App Store build, for $25 a month on Pro plus Apple's 99 USD a year. Developers who code use Xcode, Apple's free development app, which runs only on a Mac and now works with AI coding models from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI. Teams that need Android too use Flutter or React Native, which still need a Mac and Xcode for the final iOS build. Around those sit design tools such as Figma and Apple's design resources, backends such as Firebase, Supabase or CloudKit, TestFlight for beta testing, and fastlane, Xcode Cloud or Codemagic to automate releases.

### The best software for each job

## How to Choose iOS Development Software: Four Questions

1. **Will you write code?** If not, choose an AI builder or no-code builder; everything else in this guide becomes optional.
 2. **Do you need Android at launch?** If yes, choose a cross-platform builder or framework. If not, native Swift gives you the full Apple feature set.
 3. **Do you have a Mac?** Xcode runs only on macOS, and Flutter, React Native and .NET MAUI all need a Mac and Xcode for the iOS build. Browser-based builders and cloud build services remove that need.
 4. **Who maintains the app after launch?** If you will, pick software you can understand. If developers will, pick software that produces code they can take over.

| Your answers (Superapp fits the first row) | Software to start with |
| --- | --- |
| No code, iPhone first, no Mac | An AI builder with native Swift output |
| No code, iPhone and Android | A visual no-code builder with native or cross-platform output |
| Some code, web background, both platforms | React Native with Expo |
| Some code, want one codebase and strong UI control | Flutter |
| C# and .NET background | .NET MAUI |
| Kotlin background | Kotlin Multiplatform with Compose Multiplatform |
| Swift developer, Apple platforms only | Xcode with SwiftUI and AI assistance |

## Category 1: AI and No-Code App Builders

These replace most of the toolkit for people who do not write code: they include the editor, the build system, often a backend, and in some cases App Store submission.

### Superapp: native Swift apps from a description

Superapp describes itself as "an AI app builder that turns a plain-English description into a real native iPhone, iPad, Watch, and Mac app," and says it "generates production-ready native Swift code from your descriptions." On the web you "just type your idea into the prompt," with nothing to install; its FAQ says it "runs in the browser and builds in the cloud." Superapp Cloud provides "Auth, database, and storage, wired into your app out of the box," and you can bring your own Supabase instance instead. You can start from your Figma designs, which Superapp uses as a reference, and when the app is ready, Superapp prepares the build, metadata, screenshots and privacy details and submits it to the App Store. Superapp says "You fully own the code and can export it anytime," as a standard Xcode project. A Mac version adds Xcode-based workflows, including use with Claude Code and Codex.

- **Platforms:** iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac apps, plus a website.
 - **Price:** free credits to start in most countries; Pro is $25 a month with 50 credits and automated App Store publishing; about one credit generates one screen.
 - **Mac needed:** no, on the web version.
 - **Limits:** Apple platforms only, no Android.

### Bubble: visual web and mobile apps from one backend

Bubble says "Build with AI when you want speed, edit visually when you want precision." Its Mobile plans publish iOS and Android apps, and its Web and Mobile plans add a web app. A paid plan is required to publish: Starter Mobile is $42 a month billed annually or $49 monthly, and Starter Web and Mobile is $59 annually or $69 monthly. Usage is metered in workload units, and Bubble does not offer code export.

### FlutterFlow: visual builder with Flutter code

FlutterFlow is a visual builder that produces Flutter apps and offers "Code Download" and "One-Click App Store Deployment" on its Basic plan at $39 a month. Its deployment guide has you create an App Store Connect API key for it. It suits people who want visual building with an exit route to code.

### Adalo and Thunkable: AI-assisted cross-platform builders

Adalo says "Describe your app and Ada builds the screens, data, and logic," and publishes to the App Store and Google Play on its Builder plan at $65 a month or $624 a year. Thunkable describes building "iOS and Android, built by chatting," and allows one live published app on its Builder plan at $37 a month billed annually or $59 monthly.

| Builder (Superapp listed first) | Output | Platforms | Cheapest plan that publishes to the App Store | Code export |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Superapp | Native Swift | iPhone, iPad, Watch, Mac | Pro, $25 a month | Yes, Xcode project |
| Bubble | Native mobile plus web | iOS, Android, web | Starter Mobile, $42 a month annually | No |
| FlutterFlow | Flutter | iOS, Android, web | Basic, $39 a month | Yes, on Basic |
| Adalo | Cross-platform | iOS, Android, web | Builder, $65 a month | A code sample on Builder; full code viewing on Business |
| Thunkable | Cross-platform | iOS and Android | Builder, $37 a month annually | Not listed |

## Category 2: Apple's Own Development Tools

### Xcode

Xcode is Apple's development app for every Apple platform, and Apple's developer site now previews Xcode 27. The release on the Mac App Store, Xcode 26.3, is free, runs only on macOS and requires macOS 15.6 or later. Apple says Xcode "supports interacting with code using the model of your choice, including the frontier coding models and agents from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI," and that you can "add any agent compatible with the Agent Client Protocol and extend Xcode with your own skills and tools using the Model Context Protocol." Since April 28, 2026, apps uploaded to the App Store must be built with Xcode 26 or later and an SDK for iOS 26 or later.

Inside Xcode you get:

| Xcode component (Superapp exports projects you can open here) | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Source editor with AI models | Write and edit Swift and SwiftUI with AI help |
| SwiftUI previews | See interface changes as you edit |
| Simulator | "Launch your app on a simulated iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, visionOS, or watchOS device" |
| Instruments | "real-time insights that help you deliver a smooth and responsive experience" |
| Organizer | Archive, sign and upload builds to App Store Connect |
| Automatic signing | "Xcode uses cloud-managed signing certificates to automatically code sign your app" |

### Swift Playground

Swift Playground is Apple's free app for iPad and Mac that "helps you learn to code and build apps using Swift." Apple says "you'll be coding within minutes," and you can create apps with multiple files and assets and "submit your app to App Store Connect." It is the lowest-cost way to build and submit a Swift app without a Mac, if you have an iPad.

### Xcode Cloud

Xcode Cloud is Apple's continuous integration service. It can "build and sign your app for distribution to testers with TestFlight, in the App Store, or as a notarized app." The Apple Developer Program includes 25 compute hours a month, and 100 hours cost $49.99 a month.

## Category 3: Cross-Platform Frameworks

Cross-platform frameworks let developers write one codebase for iOS and Android. All of them still rely on a Mac and Xcode for the iOS build, unless you use a cloud build service.

| Framework (for comparison, Superapp outputs native Swift for Apple platforms) | Language | Description from the maker | iOS build requirement |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Flutter | Dart | "Build, test, and deploy beautiful mobile, web, desktop, and embedded experiences from a single codebase" | Xcode on a Mac for the simulator, devices and builds |
| React Native | JavaScript and React | "A framework for building native apps for Android, iOS, and more using React" | Xcode on a Mac, or a cloud service such as Expo EAS |
| .NET MAUI | C# and XAML | "a cross-platform framework for creating native mobile and desktop apps with C# and XAML" | "Building apps for iOS and macOS requires a Mac" |
| Kotlin Multiplatform with Compose Multiplatform | Kotlin | iOS listed as Stable; Compose Multiplatform for iOS declared stable in May 2025 | A Mac with Xcode |

### Expo for React Native

Expo adds tooling and cloud services around React Native. Its free plan includes "Up to 15 Android and 15 iOS builds," and its Starter plan is $19 a month plus usage. Expo's EAS Build signs apps through your Apple account, and EAS Submit "uploads your .ipa to App Store Connect," though it "does not manage store listing metadata, screenshots, or release notes."

### Microsoft's Pair to Mac

For .NET MAUI, Visual Studio "must connect to a network-accessible Mac to build .NET MAUI iOS apps," and Microsoft notes that Pair to Mac "can't install Xcode," so Xcode must be installed on the Mac build host.

### Which framework fits which team

| Framework (Superapp needs no framework knowledge) | Best for | Watch out for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Flutter | Teams that want one codebase with consistent custom UI on iOS and Android | Platform-specific iOS features may need Swift code through platform channels |
| React Native with Expo | Teams with JavaScript and React skills, and web developers moving to mobile | Upgrades can break community packages; check maintenance before relying on one |
| .NET MAUI | Companies already invested in C# and Visual Studio | A networked Mac build host for iOS |
| Kotlin Multiplatform | Android teams that want to share Kotlin code and UI with iOS | A newer ecosystem on iOS than Flutter or React Native |
| Native Swift in Xcode | Apps that need the newest Apple features first, or Apple Watch and Mac | Apple platforms only |

## Category 4: AI Coding Assistants

AI assistants now sit inside most developer workflows. For iOS, they help write Swift and SwiftUI, explain errors and refactor code, but you still need Xcode, or a builder, to compile, sign and ship.

| Assistant (Superapp builds the AI into the app builder itself) | How you use it for iOS | Price to start |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Xcode's built-in model support | Chat and agents inside Xcode, with models from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI | Xcode is free; model access depends on the provider |
| Claude Code | Agentic coding in the terminal and editors; "included in all paid plans" of Claude | Claude Pro at $20 a month billed monthly |
| OpenAI Codex | Coding agent included in ChatGPT plans | Included from the free ChatGPT plan; Plus at $20 a month for more usage |
| GitHub Copilot | Code completion and chat in editors | Free tier; Pro at $10 a month; Pro+ at $39 a month |
| Cursor | AI-first code editor | Free tier; paid plans from $8 a month, with broader model access on higher plans |

### AI assistant vs AI app builder

| Question (Superapp is an AI app builder) | AI coding assistant | AI app builder |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Do you need to read code? | Yes | No |
| Do you need Xcode and a Mac? | Yes, to build and ship | No, with browser-based builders |
| Who handles signing and upload? | You | The builder, in tools that publish |
| Best for | Developers who want to move faster | People who want the app, not the code |

## Category 5: Code Editors Outside Xcode

Some developers prefer to edit code in Visual Studio Code. The official Swift extension "adds language support for Swift to Visual Studio Code," but warns that "Support for Xcode projects (.xcodeproj) is limited" and that most features "only work with projects that build with Swift Package Manager." In practice, iOS apps are still built and signed with Xcode.

JetBrains' AppCode, once the main alternative Swift IDE, is gone: JetBrains said in December 2022 that "we are sunsetting the product," stopped selling it on December 14, 2022, and ended support after December 31, 2023, per its [announcement](https://blog.jetbrains.com/appcode/2022/12/appcode-2022-3-release-and-end-of-sales-and-support/).

## Category 6: Design Software

| Design tool (Superapp can work from your Figma designs) | What it is for | Price |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Figma | Screen design, prototypes and handoff | Starter: "Free limited access"; Professional Full seat $16 a month |
| Apple Design Resources | "official Apple design templates, icon production templates, color guides, and more," including iOS UI kits for Figma and Sketch | Free download |
| SF Symbols | "a library of over 7,000 symbols" designed to match Apple's system font | Download from Apple |
| Human Interface Guidelines | Apple's "guidance and best practices" for designing apps | Free |

## Category 7: Backend Software

Most apps with accounts or shared data need a backend. Builders often include one; developers usually choose from these:

| Backend (Superapp Cloud is included, or bring your own Supabase) | Type | Free plan | First paid step |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Superapp Cloud | Built into Superapp | Included with Superapp | Included with Superapp plans |
| Firebase | Google's backend platform | Spark: Firestore with 1 GiB storage, 50,000 reads and 20,000 writes a day | Blaze pay-as-you-go |
| Supabase | Open-source Postgres backend | 500 MB database, 50,000 monthly active users, 1 GB file storage; pauses after a week of inactivity | Pro from $25 a month |
| CloudKit | Apple's iCloud-based framework | Apple says users' private data lives in their iCloud accounts and apps get "up to 1PB of storage" for public data | Not published as a price list |

Sources: [Firebase pricing](https://firebase.google.com/pricing), [Supabase pricing](https://supabase.com/pricing), [CloudKit](https://developer.apple.com/icloud/cloudkit/), [Superapp](https://superapp.dev/).

## Category 8: Testing Software

| Testing tool (Superapp users test with previews and TestFlight) | What it does | Cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Xcode Simulator | Runs the app on simulated Apple devices | Free with Xcode |
| Testing on your own iPhone with a free Apple Account | Up to 3 devices, with 7-day provisioning profiles | Free |
| TestFlight | Beta builds for up to 100 internal and 10,000 external testers | Included with the 99 USD membership |
| Firebase App Distribution | "distributing your apps to trusted testers painless," for iOS and Android | Free with Firebase |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting; "There's no cost to using Crashlytics" | Free |
| Instruments | Performance profiling in Xcode | Free with Xcode |

TestFlight external testing needs App Review approval for the first build; Apple says "Subsequent builds may not require a full review."

## Category 9: Build and Release Automation

| Release tool (Superapp prepares and submits builds for you) | What it automates | Cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Xcode Cloud | Build, test, sign and distribute | 25 compute hours a month included; 100 hours for $49.99 a month |
| fastlane | "Upload metadata and binary to App Store Connect," TestFlight uploads and certificate syncing with match | Free and open source |
| Codemagic | Automatic code signing "by connecting to App Store Connect via its API" | 500 free macOS minutes a month for personal accounts, then $0.095 a minute |
| GitHub Actions macOS runners | Run your own build scripts | $0.062 a minute on macOS runners |
| Expo EAS | Cloud builds and store submission for React Native | 15 free iOS builds on the free plan; Starter $19 a month plus usage |

For the technical side of signing, API keys and upload methods, see our guide to [Apple App Store deployment](https://superapp.dev/blog/apple-app-store-deployment).

## Category 10: Monetization and Analytics

| Tool (Superapp apps use Apple's systems like any other app) | What it does | Cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| StoreKit and Apple in-app purchase | Sell digital goods and subscriptions | Apple's 15% to 30% commission |
| RevenueCat | Manage subscriptions across platforms | Free up to "$2,500 in monthly tracked revenue," then 1% of tracked revenue |
| App Store Connect Analytics | "Understand how people discover and interact with your app" | Built into App Store Connect |
| Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics | Usage and crash data | Free tiers |

Apple's [Small Business Program](https://developer.apple.com/app-store/small-business-program/) offers a 15% commission to eligible developers who enroll, and subscriptions drop to 15% after a subscriber's first year. For the full fee picture, see our guide to [App Store publishing cost](https://superapp.dev/blog/app-store-publishing-cost).

## The iOS Development Workflow, and the Software for Each Step

1. **Plan the app.** Write down who the app is for, the problem it solves and the three to five actions version one must support. A document or notes app is enough.
 2. **Design the screens.** Sketch on paper, then use Figma with Apple's iOS UI kits, or let an AI builder generate the first design from your description.
 3. **Build the app.** Use an AI or no-code builder, or write code in Xcode or a cross-platform framework, with an AI assistant if you like.
 4. **Add a backend.** Use the builder's built-in backend, or Firebase, Supabase or CloudKit for accounts, data and files.
 5. **Test it.** Run it in the Simulator, on your own iPhone and with TestFlight testers, and add crash reporting such as Crashlytics.
 6. **Profile performance.** Use Instruments in Xcode to find slow screens and memory problems before users do.
 7. **Automate builds.** As updates become regular, use Xcode Cloud, fastlane, Codemagic or EAS to sign and upload builds automatically.
 8. **Publish.** Enroll in the Apple Developer Program, prepare the listing and submit for review, or let a publishing builder do it.
 9. **Monetize.** Use Apple's in-app purchase for digital goods and subscriptions, with RevenueCat if you want cross-platform subscription management.
 10. **Measure and improve.** Use App Store Connect Analytics and your crash reports to decide what to fix and build next.

| Workflow step (Superapp covers steps 2 to 5 and 8 in one tool) | Non-coder software | Developer software |

## Native, Cross-Platform or Web: How the Software Choice Shapes the App

| Output (Superapp generates native Swift) | Software that produces it | Strengths | Trade-offs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Native Swift | Xcode, Superapp, Swift Playground | Full access to Apple frameworks, newest features first | Apple platforms only |
| Cross-platform native | Flutter, React Native, .NET MAUI, Kotlin Multiplatform, FlutterFlow | One codebase for iOS and Android | Some Apple features need platform-specific code |
| Builder-specific format | Bubble, Adalo, Thunkable | Fast to build without code | Tied to the platform; limited or no code export |
| Web app | Web builders such as Glide | Cheapest, no store fees | Cannot be listed on the App Store as is; Apple rejects repackaged websites |

Apple's Guideline 4.2 asks apps to "elevate it beyond a repackaged website," which is why software that only wraps a website is the riskiest route to the App Store.

## What Changed in iOS Development Software in 2026

| Change (applies to Superapp and every tool here) | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Xcode 26 required for uploads since April 28, 2026 | Older toolchains cannot submit new builds |
| iOS 13 minimum target since September 9, 2026 | Apps must target iOS 13 or later |
| Xcode supports models and agents from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI, per Apple's Xcode page | AI coding is part of Apple's own IDE |
| Compose Multiplatform for iOS stable since May 2025 | Kotlin is now a production option for iOS UI |
| AI builders generate native code | Non-coders can produce native Swift apps |
| Privacy manifest rules for third-party SDKs since February 12, 2025 | Older SDK versions can block review |

## Mistakes When Choosing iOS Development Software

- **Picking a tool before deciding whether you will code.** The answer splits the toolkit in two.
 - **Choosing a web wrapper to save time.** It risks rejection under Guideline 4.2.
 - **Forgetting the Mac.** Xcode and every major cross-platform framework need macOS for iOS builds unless you use a cloud service.
 - **Ignoring code export.** Without it, moving off a builder means rebuilding.
 - **Adding tools you do not need yet.** A first version rarely needs CI, analytics SDKs and a subscription platform on day one.
 - **Using outdated tools.** AppCode is discontinued, and builds from old Xcode versions are no longer accepted.
 - **Assuming AI replaces testing.** Whatever writes the code, test on real devices before review.

## How Our Toolkit Compares With Other Lists

| Topic (Superapp checked these on October 25, 2026) | This guide | Many "best iOS development software" lists |
| --- | --- | --- |

| Which tools need a Mac | Covered for every tool | Partial |
| Monetization and analytics tools | Covered | Often missing |
| Complete stacks by builder type | Covered | Rare |

## Checklist for Choosing Your iOS Development Software

| Question (applies to Superapp and every option) | Why it matters |
| --- | --- |

## Where Superapp Fits

As a disclosure, Superapp is our product, so weigh this accordingly. Superapp replaces most of the iOS toolkit for people who do not want to manage it: you describe the app in a browser, Superapp generates native Swift for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, includes a backend for logins, data and storage, and prepares and submits the App Store build. You can start from Figma designs, bring your own Supabase, and export the code anytime as a standard Xcode project, so developers can continue in Xcode. Automated App Store publishing is part of Pro at $25 a month, plus Apple's 99 USD a year. Superapp builds for Apple platforms only; if you need Android at launch, a cross-platform builder or framework is the better fit, and experienced Swift developers may prefer Xcode with AI assistants.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**What software do I need to develop an iOS app?**
Either an AI or no-code builder that builds and publishes the app, or Xcode for writing code, plus Apple's 99 USD yearly developer membership to publish.

**What is the best software to develop iOS apps without coding?**
An AI builder that generates native code, such as Superapp, or a visual no-code builder such as Bubble, FlutterFlow, Adalo or Thunkable if you also need Android.

**Is Xcode free?**
Yes. Xcode is free on the Mac App Store. Publishing to the App Store requires the 99 USD yearly Apple Developer Program.

**Can I develop iOS apps on Windows?**
Yes with browser-based builders such as Superapp's web version. Xcode runs only on macOS, and cross-platform frameworks still need a Mac for iOS builds unless you use a cloud build service.

**What is the current version of Xcode?**
The Mac App Store lists Xcode 26.3, and Apple's developer site previews Xcode 27. Uploads must be built with Xcode 26 or later since April 28, 2026.

**Does Xcode have AI?**
Yes. Apple says Xcode supports coding models and agents from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI, plus agents compatible with the Agent Client Protocol.

**Can VS Code build iOS apps?**
Not by itself. The Swift extension adds language support, but Xcode project support is limited and iOS apps are still built and signed with Xcode.

**What happened to AppCode?**
JetBrains discontinued AppCode, stopped selling it on December 14, 2022, and ended support after December 31, 2023.

**Flutter or React Native for iOS?**
Flutter suits teams that want one Dart codebase with strong UI control; React Native suits teams with JavaScript and React experience. Both need a Mac or cloud builds for iOS.

**Do Flutter apps need a Mac?**
Yes for iOS. Flutter uses Xcode on a Mac to run on the iOS Simulator and devices and to build for the App Store.

**What is Expo?**
Tooling and cloud services for React Native. Its free plan includes up to 15 iOS builds, and its Starter plan is $19 a month plus usage.

**Can .NET developers build iOS apps?**
Yes, with .NET MAUI, but Microsoft says building for iOS and macOS requires a Mac.

**Is Kotlin Multiplatform ready for iOS?**
Yes. Kotlin's docs list iOS as Stable, and JetBrains declared Compose Multiplatform for iOS stable in May 2025.

**Which AI coding assistant is best for Swift?**
It depends on your workflow: Xcode's built-in model support works inside Apple's IDE, while Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot and Cursor work in other editors and terminals.

**How much do AI coding assistants cost?**
GitHub Copilot has a free tier and Pro at $10 a month; Claude Pro, which includes Claude Code, is $20 a month; Codex is included from ChatGPT's free plan, with more usage on Plus at $20 a month; Cursor has a free tier and paid plans from $8 a month.

**What design software do iOS developers use?**
Figma for screens and prototypes, Apple's Design Resources for official UI kits, SF Symbols for icons and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for guidance.

**What is SF Symbols?**
Apple's library of over 7,000 symbols designed to work with Apple's system font.

**What backend should an iOS app use?**
Firebase, Supabase or Apple's CloudKit for developers; builders such as Superapp include a backend.

**How do I beta test an iOS app?**
With TestFlight, which supports up to 100 internal and 10,000 external testers and is included with Apple's membership.

**Is Crashlytics free?**
Yes. Firebase says there is no cost to using Crashlytics.

**What is fastlane?**
A free, open-source tool that automates iOS releases, including uploading metadata and binaries, TestFlight uploads and certificate syncing.

**How much does Xcode Cloud cost?**
The Apple Developer Program includes 25 compute hours a month, and 100 hours cost $49.99 a month.

**What is RevenueCat?**
A subscription management service that is free up to $2,500 in monthly tracked revenue, then charges 1% of tracked revenue.

**Does Superapp include a backend?**
Yes. Superapp Cloud provides authentication, database and storage, and you can bring your own Supabase instance instead.

**Can I export code from an iOS app builder?**
It depends on the builder. Superapp exports a standard Xcode project and FlutterFlow offers code download; Bubble does not offer code export.

**Which software builds for Apple Watch and Mac too?**
Xcode builds for every Apple platform. Superapp builds iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac apps.

**What is the cheapest complete iOS development stack?**
For a developer with a Mac, Xcode plus the 99 USD membership. For a non-coder, an AI builder plan plus the 99 USD membership, about $399 in year one with Superapp Pro.

**Do I need a separate tool to publish to the App Store?**
Not with builders that publish for you. Developers upload with Xcode, Transporter, fastlane, Xcode Cloud or services such as Codemagic and Expo EAS.

**Which iOS development software is best for a startup?**
Startups that need iPhone first can move fastest with an AI builder; teams that need iPhone and Android with in-house developers often choose Flutter or React Native.

**Should I learn Swift in 2026?**
If you want to be an iOS developer or need full control, yes; AI assistants in Xcode make learning faster. If you only need an app, a builder is quicker.

**What software do I need to make an Apple Watch app?**
Xcode with watchOS if you code. Superapp builds Apple Watch apps without code.

**Can I build a Mac app with the same software?**
Yes. Xcode builds Mac apps, Flutter and .NET MAUI target desktop, and Superapp builds Mac apps alongside iPhone apps.

**What software profiles iOS app performance?**
Instruments, which comes with Xcode, gives real-time insight into performance, memory and responsiveness.

**Do I need CI/CD for my first app?**
Usually not. Automation such as Xcode Cloud, fastlane or Codemagic pays off once you release updates regularly or work in a team.

**Can I use Figma designs to build an iOS app?**
Yes. Developers build from Figma designs in Xcode or a framework, and Superapp can use your Figma designs as a reference for a native app.

**Which software lets me move from no-code to code later?**
Builders with code export. Superapp exports a standard Xcode project, and FlutterFlow offers Flutter code download.
