title: "App Store optimization"
description: "How Selfdrive finds keywords and drafts listing updates you approve."
---
Selfdrive's ASO work is evidence-based: it reads what people search for, where your app ranks, what your listing says and how it converts, then proposes changes you approve before anything is published.

## What it reads

- **Your public listing** in each storefront: name, subtitle, description, screenshots and ratings.
- **Keyword ranks.** Where your app appears in App Store search results, checked within the top 50 for each keyword.
- **Keyword ideas and metrics.** Apple's autocomplete and suggestion data, with popularity as a relative score, not a search volume.
- **App Store Connect metadata and analytics** when connected: impressions, product page views, downloads and conversion.
- **Competitor listings** you track in the workspace.
- **Apple Ads results** when connected. Keywords that bring installs in ads are strong candidates for your listing.
- **Reviews**, which feed the customer voice section of your dashboard.

Missing or stale data is reported as missing. The agent never fills a gap with a guess.

## What it proposes

| Task | Result |
| --- | --- |
| Keyword opportunity | A keyword worth targeting, with its rank, popularity and the evidence behind it. |
| Metadata improvement | A new title, subtitle or keyword field drafted for a specific storefront. |
| Listing refresh | A broader update when the listing has drifted from what people search for. |
| Store listing change | The approved change, applied to the version Apple will accept. |

A listing change is drafted against your current App Store Connect metadata. If an editable version already exists in App Store Connect, the change is proposed for that version rather than creating a conflicting one.

## Approval

Nothing is published until you approve the task. Approved changes are applied in the next nightly run, and the daily report confirms what changed. Listing changes take effect when Apple processes them, and ranking effects usually take weeks.

## Version submissions

The agent can also submit a build for App Store review as a task, with release notes, either immediately or tonight. It needs App Store Connect access and a build ready in TestFlight. See [Publish to the App Store](/publish-app-store) for the submission flow itself.

:::note
Selfdrive does not promise rankings. It reports what changed and what the data shows, and proposes the next step.
