title: "Tasks and approvals"
description: "Where tasks come from, what each status means, and how to approve, skip or run them."
---
Everything Selfdrive does is a task. The agent proposes tasks with the evidence behind them; you decide which ones run. Nothing goes live from a proposal alone.

## Where tasks come from

- **The growth plan.** After you connect an app, the agent researches it and proposes a first set of tasks in chat.
- **The nightly run.** Each night the agent reviews analytics, campaigns and rankings and proposes new tasks when it finds something worth doing. See [Nightly run and daily report](/nightly-run-and-daily-report).
- **Your instructions.** Ask for something in chat, such as "pause the ads campaign" or "submit version 1.0.2 for review". The agent saves it as an exact task and, because you asked for it, runs it right away. It only asks back when a material detail is missing.

Every task shows its objective, the evidence it is based on, and what it will change.

## Task types

| Type | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Investigate finding | Looks deeper into something the agent noticed, without changing anything. |
| ASO keyword opportunity, metadata improvement, listing refresh | Researches and drafts listing improvements. See [ASO](/selfdrive-aso). |
| Store listing change | Applies an approved change to your App Store listing. |
| Version submission | Submits a build and release notes for App Store review, now or during the night. |
| Apple Ads campaign, update, status | Creates, changes, pauses or resumes a campaign. See [Apple Ads](/selfdrive-apple-ads). |
| Creator campaign, end campaign | Launches or stops creator recruitment. See [Creator campaigns](/selfdrive-creator-campaigns). |
| SEO prompt research, website setup, website domain, SEO article | Researches what ChatGPT answers, builds the website, connects your domain and writes articles. See [SEO and GEO](/selfdrive-seo-and-geo). |

Apple Ads and creator tasks involve money. They always run inside the budget and terms written on the task you approved.

## Statuses

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Proposed | Waiting for your decision. |
| Accepted | You approved it. |
| Scheduled | Queued for the next nightly run or for a background job. |
| Running | In progress. |
| Blocked | Needs something first, usually a connection or a decision from you. The task says what. |
| Failed | Did not complete. The task keeps the error so you or the agent can retry. |
| Completed | Done. The result shows in the task and in the next daily report. |
| Dismissed | You skipped it. |

## Approve, skip or dismiss

- **Approve** a task from its card or by telling the agent in chat. Approving needs the Max plan. See [What Selfdrive does](/selfdrive#pricing).
- **Review** opens the full task with its evidence and exact changes.
- **Skip** or dismiss tasks you do not want. You can say why (not useful, already done, or wrong) so the agent proposes better ones.

:::note
If a task changes after you looked at it, for example because the nightly run found new evidence, Selfdrive asks you to review the latest version before it starts.
:::

## Now or tonight

Most tasks run in the next nightly run. Version submissions can run immediately or tonight, whichever you choose. When you give a direct instruction in chat, the agent runs it now.
