Replit Pricing: The Short Answer

Replit has a free Starter plan, Core at $20 a month and Pro at $100 a month, with about 10% off for annual billing and custom Enterprise pricing. Each paid plan includes the same dollar amount in monthly credits, and those credits pay for everything metered: AI Agent work, hosting, databases, storage and data transfer. Anything beyond the credits is billed to your card, which is why the plan price is a floor rather than a bill. Below you will find every plan, what credits actually pay for, the hidden costs real users report, and how Replit's pricing compares to Superapp and Lovable.

Quick answer: how much does Replit cost? As of November 2026, Replit costs $0 (Starter), $20 a month for Core ($18 billed annually) and $100 a month for Pro ($90 billed annually), with Pro tiers up to $2,000 a month and custom Enterprise pricing. Core includes $20 and Pro $100 of monthly credits, spent on effort-based Agent work (from about $0.06 to several dollars per request) and on running your app. Usage beyond the credits is billed to your card, Agent charges are non-refundable, and Core credits do not roll over. For a native iPhone app on a flat plan with App Store publishing included, a native-Swift builder like Superapp is the more predictable bill.

Prices below were checked on November 3, 2026 against the Replit pricing page and the Replit docs. User stories come from public reviews on Trustpilot and reporting by The Register and TechTarget.

How much does each Replit plan cost?

Replit charges a monthly subscription that comes with an equal amount of usage credits, and annual billing takes up to 10% off.

Plan Price, billed monthly Price, billed yearly Monthly credits Builders Built for
Starter $0 $0 Limited cloud credits, daily Agent allowance 1 Trying Replit, one published app
Core $20 $18 $20 Up to 5 Personal projects and simple apps

How does Replit's effort-based Agent pricing work?

Replit charges Agent work by how much computing a request takes, not a flat fee per message. Each request produces at most one checkpoint, priced on the resources used, and Replit asks you to confirm before a paid action starts (AI billing docs).

When Replit introduced this model in June and July 2025, it said simple requests could cost as little as $0.06, while involved ones usually cost more than $0.25 and sometimes several dollars. Under the previous model, every checkpoint cost a flat $0.25 (Replit blog).

The details that drive the bill:

  • Large projects and long chat sessions cost more, because the full context is sent to the AI models, and chat costs roll into the next checkpoint.
  • Plan Mode can be charged even when it changes no code, because it can run billable reasoning.
  • Capabilities that call third-party models such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini are billed at the provider's public API rate and deducted from your credits.
  • Free Mode is the no-cost Agent path. Core and Pro get an allowance that resets every five hours, with weekly limits, and Replit does not publish the numbers.
  • You can see each checkpoint's cost from the usage icon in the Agent tab, but usage can take up to 30 minutes to appear on the dashboard.

What do Replit credits pay for?

Your monthly credits cover the Agent and everything your app uses after it is built. Hosting and data use draw from the same pool, then bill your card.

Meter Rate
Agent checkpoint Effort-based, from about $0.06
Third-party model calls Provider's public API rate
Autoscale deployment $2/month base, $0.60 per million compute units, $0.40 per million requests
Scheduled deployment $2/month base, $0.60 per million compute units
Reserved VM, shared 0.5 vCPU / 2 GB $15 a month
Reserved VM, dedicated 1 vCPU / 4 GB $35 a month
Reserved VM, dedicated 2 vCPU / 8 GB $50 a month
Reserved VM, dedicated 4 vCPU / 16 GB $130 a month
Static deployment Free hosting, $0.05 per GB transferred
Production database compute $0.16 per active compute hour
Database storage $0.35 per GiB per month
Outbound data transfer $0.05 per GiB (Core includes 100 GiB)
App Storage $0.015 per GiB per month
Development database Free

Sources: deployment pricing, August 2026 billing update, usage billing docs. Replit cut several of these rates on August 1, 2026: database storage fell from $1.50 to $0.35 per GiB, egress from $0.10 to $0.05 per GiB, and Autoscale compute from $3.20 to $0.60 per million units.

What does Replit really charge for beyond the plan price?

Replit's subscription is the predictable part. These are the costs users run into most often, roughly ranked by how often they come up in public reviews and reporting.

Hidden cost What it is Who pays it How to limit it
Paying for Agent mistakes Checkpoints that break things or loop on fixes are still charged Everyone who builds with Agent Roll back early, keep requests small
Effort-based surprises Complex or late-stage edits can cost dollars per request Projects that grow large Watch checkpoint costs, use Free Mode
Hosting your live app Deployments bill compute, requests or a fixed VM fee Anyone who publishes Pick the right deployment type
Production database hours Active database compute bills by the hour Apps with steady traffic Let it idle, avoid constant polling
Usage over credits Overage bills your card automatically Anyone without a usage limit Set a usage limit on day one
Expired credits Core credits vanish at each reset Core users with uneven months Buy packs only when needed
Third-party AI calls Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini features bill at API rates Apps with AI features Use your own keys where possible
Non-refundable usage Agent and AI charges cannot be refunded Everyone Test cheap before building big
Outside services Apple's $99 developer fee, domains, other APIs Apps that publish or sell Add them to the budget

Each of these is covered below, with what Replit's documentation says and what users report.

Do you pay for Replit Agent's mistakes?

Yes. Every paid checkpoint is charged whether or not the result works, and Replit states that Agent and AI usage charges are non-refundable because each one reflects compute already used (billing and refunds docs). Replit's own pricing page warns that the Agent is probabilistic and may occasionally make mistakes.

The pattern users describe is a fix loop: the Agent introduces a bug, you ask it to fix the bug, and each attempt is a new paid checkpoint. A Trustpilot reviewer, Dr. Melanie Petro, wrote in September 2026 that "its Agent looped through attempts to fix errors it had introduced," and said her bill reached $440 after repeated out-of-credit prompts. Another reviewer, MosaicWinder, said they had spent over $6,000 on code they considered poor quality.

Cost spikes also show up when Replit changes how the Agent works. After Agent 3 launched in September 2025, The Register reported that one user was charged about $1,000 in a week for work that previously cost no more than $180 to $200 a month, that a Reddit user lost $70 in one night, and that one prompt cost $20 (The Register). The same user who spent $1,000 noted that new apps were much cheaper to build than edits to existing ones, calling it "exceptionally fair pricing with Agent 3 if you're running a brand new app."

Replit has acknowledged problems with its own billing. In July 2025 it said the effort-based rollout "did not meet our standards," and a cost-calculation error on July 11 inflated checkpoint charges for about 6% of paying users for several hours. Replit refunded those charges automatically and gave all users of the new pricing $10 in credits (Replit blog).

The worst-case mistake is not a bill. In July 2025, investor Jason Lemkin reported that Replit's Agent deleted his production database during a code freeze, then wrongly claimed it could not be rolled back. Replit's CEO responded by pledging automatic separation of development and production databases (TechTarget). Today, Agent rollbacks leave the development database unchanged by default, and production data needs a point-in-time restore within your plan's window: 7 days on Core, 28 days on Pro (checkpoints docs).

Does Replit charge for hosting and the database?

Yes, and this is the biggest difference from builders that bundle hosting into the plan. Publishing an app on Replit creates a deployment, and every deployment type bills from your credits, then your card.

The deployment types cost very different amounts:

  • Static deployments are free to host and bill only $0.05 per GB of data transferred. Good for sites with no backend.
  • Autoscale deployments charge a $2 monthly base plus compute units and requests, scaling to near zero when idle. Good for apps with spiky traffic.
  • Reserved VMs run around the clock for a fixed $15 to $130 a month, depending on size. Good for apps that must always be on, such as bots or background workers.
  • Scheduled deployments charge a $2 base plus compute for jobs that run on a timer.

The production database is billed separately on two meters: compute hours while it is active, at $0.16 an hour, and storage at $0.35 per GiB per month. The database suspends after five minutes without activity, so a quiet app costs little. A database that never idles is another matter: 730 hours in a month at $0.16 is $116.80 in compute alone (our arithmetic from Replit's rates), before storage, before hosting and before any Agent work. Anything that keeps it awake, like a health check, a polling frontend or a background job every few minutes, can keep that meter running. Development databases are free, and every database uses at least 33 MB of storage even when empty (usage billing docs).

On the positive side, Replit's August 2026 price cuts made running apps meaningfully cheaper: database storage fell by more than three quarters and Autoscale compute by more than four fifths (billing update). Each app also includes 20 GB of storage, or 50 GB on Pro.

What happens when you run out of Replit credits?

Replit keeps going and bills you. Usage is billed monthly or once accumulated costs exceed your monthly credits (usage billing docs). That is the opposite of builders that simply stop at zero, and it is why spending controls matter so much on Replit.

Your options:

  • Set a usage limit under Settings, then Usage, then Manage limits. When it is reached, Replit says services are suspended until you raise the limit or the next cycle begins (spend docs).
  • Buy credit packs in advance, which are slightly cheaper in bulk, and optionally turn on auto-reload.
  • To use only pack credits and never be billed overage, Replit suggests setting the limit to $0.01.

Prepaid credit packs:

Pack Price Savings
$100 of credits $100 None
$300 of credits $290 $10
$500 of credits $480 $20
$1,000 of credits $950 $50

Two warnings from the docs and from users. First, suspension at a limit applies to services, which can include your published app, so a tight limit can take your app offline. Continuous payment failures can also suspend published apps. A Pro subscriber, Zach Wade, reported in September 2026 that running out of top-up credits "suspended my account functionality even though my Pro subscription was still active." Second, limits are not always experienced as hard caps: one Trustpilot reviewer, Thomas Thøgersen, said he set a $50 limit and was later billed about $300. Replit's docs note that charges after a change can come from earlier usage that crossed a billing threshold later, so check the Usage page rather than relying on the limit alone.

Can you get a refund from Replit?

Partly. Agent and AI usage charges are non-refundable, and custom domain registration fees are non-refundable. Subscription fee refunds depend on your plan and what you are asking to refund: you contact Replit Support from your registered email, cancel the subscription first, and support confirms eligibility (billing and refunds docs).

Billing complaints after cancelling are common in reviews. MosaicWinder wrote: "Even after cancelling the plan, I still got charged twice." Another reviewer, Abi Young, said she was charged a month after cancelling for overuse. Replit's own docs explain why this can happen: a charge after cancellation can come from usage before cancellation that reached a billing threshold later, or from a retried failed payment. Others found cancelling hard; Francisco Pellerano called it "an absolute nightmare." And one reviewer, helen booth, said support pointed her to the usage chart rather than giving itemized logs when she disputed AI charges.

Practical rules before you pay:

  • Set a usage limit before your first big Agent session.
  • Cancel from Billing in Settings, then check the Usage page for any trailing charges.
  • If you see a charge you think is wrong, send support the amount, date and the payment ID that starts with pi_.

What does it cost to put a Replit app on the App Store?

Superapp's $25 Pro plan builds native Swift and includes automated App Store publishing at a flat price; with Replit, you pay Core or Pro plus Agent and hosting usage, plus Apple's $99 yearly developer fee. On sticker price Replit Core is cheaper, at $240 a year against Superapp Pro's $300, but Replit's total depends on how much Agent work and hosting your app uses.

Replit builds mobile apps with Expo and React Native, which renders native UI rather than a web view. You publish from the Project Editor to TestFlight, then promote the build to the App Store in App Store Connect with your own Apple Developer Program membership. Google Play publishing is not yet supported, EAS CLI and EAS Build are not supported on Replit, and iOS and Android simulator previews need Core or above (Replit mobile docs). If your mobile app has a backend on Replit, that deployment and database bill monthly as well.

Is the Replit annual plan worth it?

Plan 12 months monthly 12 months yearly You save
Core $240 $216 $24
Pro $1,200 $1,080 $120

The discount is modest, and for most active builders the subscription is the smaller part of the bill. Annual billing only makes sense once you know your usage, because the risk on Replit is usage, not the plan fee. When you change plans mid-cycle, Replit credits the unused part of your current plan toward the new one and shows the proration before you confirm (Replit docs).

What does a Replit app really cost per year?

These scenarios use Replit's published plan prices and usage rates. Agent usage varies so much by project that it is shown as a range you control, not a forecast.

Scenario Plan Plan cost per year Typical hosting Watch out for
Static site or portfolio Core $216 to $240 Free hosting, $0.05/GB transfer Agent work beyond $20 a month
Web app with occasional traffic Core $216 to $240 Autoscale from $24 a year in base fees plus usage Database hours if traffic is steady
Always-on bot or worker Core $216 to $240 Reserved VM from $180 a year Sizing up the VM
iPhone app with a backend Core $216 to $240 Backend deployment and database Apple's $99 a year, no Google Play yet
Commercial app with a team Pro $1,080 to $1,200 Usage beyond $100 a month Heavy Agent edits on a large codebase

Hosting is largely covered by the monthly credits for small apps. The bills that surprise people are almost always Agent usage on large projects, which is why the next sections focus on choosing a plan and controlling spend.

Which Replit plan should you pick?

If you are... Pick Why
Just exploring Starter Free, one published app, daily Agent allowance
Building personal projects Core Full Agent, unlimited apps, $20 of credits
Learning to code or teaching Core with education discount Discounts via Replit's education program
Building commercially Pro Credits roll over, 28-day database restore
Working in a team of up to 15 Pro 15 builders, 10 parallel Agent tasks
A company with security needs Enterprise SSO, SCIM, audit logs, private networking

When is Replit worth the price, and when should you skip it?

Pick instead Pick Replit if Skip Replit if
What you build Superapp, for a native Swift iPhone app on a flat plan Web apps, APIs, bots or code you want to write yourself You want a bill that cannot exceed the plan
How you build Superapp or Lovable, for prompt-only building You can read code and steer the Agent You expect to iterate by trial and error with Agent
Budget Superapp, with flat plans and credit top-ups You set a usage limit and watch the Usage page Your budget cannot absorb a heavy month
Hosting Lovable, with hosting grants in the plan You need flexible deployments and real servers You want hosting fully bundled
Mobile Superapp, for native iOS and automated App Store publishing React Native via Expo suits your app You need Google Play publishing today

What does Replit get right on price?

Replit's complaints are real, but so is its flexibility. It is a full development platform rather than a closed builder: you can write and edit code directly, choose between static, autoscale, scheduled and always-on deployments, and run real databases and servers. For developers who mainly write code and use the Agent sparingly, $20 a month with $20 of usage included is good value, and static sites host for free.

Replit has also cut infrastructure prices sharply in 2026 and publishes its rates, a usage page and per-checkpoint costs in the Agent tab. Positive reviewers credit the speed: one, Cameron Ross, said the Agent "builds a basic app very quickly," though he found results degraded as his app grew. That pattern matches the pricing complaints: early builds are cheap and fast, while large, late-stage edits are where both quality and cost become harder to control.

How does Replit pricing compare to other AI app builders?

Replit has the lowest entry price of the three, but it is the only one that bills usage beyond your plan automatically. Credit units are not comparable across tools, so compare what each plan covers and what happens when you go over.

Superapp Replit Lovable
Entry paid plan Pro, $25/mo (50 credits) Core, $20/mo ($20 credits) Pro, from $25/mo (100 credits)

As a disclosure, Superapp is our product, so weigh this accordingly. If the reason you are pricing Replit is to get an iPhone app into the App Store without a usage bill to manage, Superapp generates native Swift and a full Xcode project you own, adds subscriptions through RevenueCat, and includes automated App Store publishing on a flat $25 plan. Replit is a general-purpose development platform and the better pick for web apps, APIs, bots and code you want to write yourself, and Superapp does not build Android. For more options, see our best Replit alternatives and Replit review.

How to keep your Replit bill down

  1. Set a usage limit before you start, and check that your published app can tolerate a suspension if you hit it.
  2. Start new features in Free Mode, and confirm paid actions only when you need the stronger models.
  3. Keep requests small. Long chats and large projects send more context and cost more per checkpoint.
  4. Roll back to a working checkpoint early instead of asking the Agent to fix its own fix.
  5. Pick the cheapest deployment type that works: static if there is no backend, Autoscale for spiky traffic, a Reserved VM only when it must always run.
  6. Let your production database idle. Avoid polling and frequent health checks that keep it awake.
  7. Use your own API keys for AI features where possible, instead of paying provider rates through credits.
  8. Check the Usage page weekly, since dashboard data can lag up to 30 minutes and charges can land after a threshold.

Is Replit Core $20 or $25?
Replit Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed annually, with $20 of monthly credits. Many older guides still list $25, which was an earlier price.

What do Replit credits pay for?
Credits pay for effort-based Agent work, third-party model calls, deployments, production databases, storage and outbound data transfer. Core includes $20 and Pro $100 of credits each month.

How much does a Replit Agent request cost?
Replit uses effort-based pricing. Replit said simple requests can cost as little as $0.06, while involved ones usually cost more than $0.25 and sometimes several dollars. Plan Mode can be charged even without code changes.

Do Replit credits roll over?
Core credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. Pro credits roll over for two months before expiring. Purchased credit packs and promotional credits have their own expiry dates.

What happens if I go over my Replit credits?
Replit bills usage beyond your credits to your payment method automatically. You can buy credit packs or set a usage limit, and when the limit is reached Replit suspends services until you raise it or the next cycle begins.

Does Replit charge you when the Agent makes a mistake?
Yes. Paid checkpoints are charged whether or not the result works, and Replit says Agent and AI usage charges are non-refundable. Rolling back early and keeping requests small are the main ways to limit fix-loop costs.

Does Replit charge for hosting?
Yes. Static hosting is free apart from data transfer, Autoscale deployments cost a $2 monthly base plus usage, and Reserved VMs cost $15 to $130 a month. Production databases bill $0.16 per active compute hour plus storage.

How much does a Replit database cost?
Production databases cost $0.16 per active compute hour and $0.35 per GiB of storage per month, and suspend after five minutes idle. A database that never idles would cost about $117 a month in compute alone. Development databases are free.

Can I set a spending limit on Replit?
Yes. Set a usage limit under Settings, then Usage, then Manage limits. When reached, services are suspended until you raise it or the next cycle. To spend only prepaid pack credits, Replit suggests a limit of $0.01.

Agent and AI usage charges and custom domain fees are non-refundable. Subscription fee refunds are handled case by case: cancel first, then contact Replit Support from your registered email with your reason.

Why was I charged after cancelling Replit?
Replit says charges after cancellation can come from usage before you cancelled that reached a billing threshold later, or from a retried failed payment. Check the Usage page and contact support with the payment ID if a charge looks wrong.

How much do Replit credit packs cost?
Credit packs cost $100 for $100 of credits, $290 for $300, $480 for $500 and $950 for $1,000. They apply to Agent work, deployments, storage and other usage, and can be set to auto-reload.

Is Replit Pro worth it?
Pro is worth it for commercial work or teams: it includes $100 of credits that roll over for two months, up to 15 builders, 10 parallel Agent tasks and a 28-day database restore window, for $100 a month or $90 billed annually.

Can Replit publish to the App Store?
Yes. Replit builds mobile apps with Expo and React Native and publishes to TestFlight and the App Store with your Apple Developer membership, which costs $99 a year. Google Play publishing is not yet supported.

Is Replit cheaper than Lovable?
On entry price, yes: Replit Core is $20 a month against Lovable Pro from $25. But Replit bills Agent and hosting usage beyond your credits automatically, while Lovable includes a monthly Cloud grant, so total cost depends on how heavily you build and host.

Does Replit have a student discount?
Yes. Replit's education program offers discounts for eligible students and educators, with amounts and eligibility set by the program at replit.com/education. There is no free trial of paid plans.
