Superapp Selfdrive is the best AppTweak alternative in 2026 for founders who want the work done, not another dashboard: an AI agent researches keywords, drafts your App Store name, subtitle and keyword field for approval, runs your Apple Ads, and feeds the keywords that convert in ads back into your listing, included in Superapp Max at $100 a month. If you want a cheaper research tool to do ASO yourself, Astro ($108 a year), Applyra ($9.99 a month), MobileAction Lite ($15 a month) and Appfigures are the strongest low-cost picks, and Sonar and ASOScan are the newest. AppTweak itself is a strong platform, but its Essential plan is $949 a year for 500 keywords and one seat, Grow is $3,590 a year, and its AI agents give recommendations rather than doing the work. This guide compares 14 alternatives on price, keyword and app limits, Apple Ads features, AI, store coverage and real user reviews, shows what each one costs at three team sizes, and lists the mistakes to avoid when you switch. Prices were checked on each vendor's pricing page in October 2026, and every quote is copied word for word from its source.
AppTweak Alternatives: The Short Answer
Superapp Selfdrive is the pick if you are a founder or small team on iOS and want an agent to run ASO and Apple Ads together, with your approval before anything changes. If you want to keep doing ASO by hand but pay less than AppTweak, start with Astro for iOS keyword research on a Mac, Applyra or ASOZen for the cheapest web tools, MobileAction Lite if you also want Apple Ads intelligence, or Appfigures if you want analytics and reviews in the same place. For Apple Ads campaign management alone, MobileAction CMP and SplitMetrics Acquire are free up to $10,000 and $25,000 a month in ad spend. Sensor Tower is not a cheaper alternative; it is a more expensive one.
Quick answer: what are the best AppTweak alternatives in 2026? Superapp Selfdrive is the best alternative for founders who want an AI agent to do ASO and Apple Ads for them, with every listing change approved by you (included in Superapp Max at $100 a month). For cheap ASO research: Astro costs $108 a year (iOS, Mac only), Applyra $9.99 a month, ASOZen from $9 a month, MobileAction Lite $15 a month, Sonar $29 a month and ASOScan from $15 a month. Appfigures (from $35.99 a month for keyword tracking) and AppFollow (ASO from $19 a month billed yearly) add analytics and reviews. For Apple Ads, MobileAction CMP is free up to $10,000 a month in spend and SplitMetrics Acquire up to $25,000. AppTweak starts at $949 a year for 500 keywords and one seat.
Why People Look for AppTweak Alternatives
Superapp Selfdrive exists because most founders do not need more data; they need the ASO and Apple Ads work done. That is not a knock on AppTweak. It is well liked: G2 shows 4.6 stars from 208 reviews, and users call it "by far the most comprehensive ASO tool out there" (Apple Developer Forums). Even a competitor's roundup concedes that "AppTweak is the tool most ASO professionals name first, and for good reason," before adding, "It is a capable platform that happens to be aimed at a buyer who is not you" (Applyra).
The reasons people leave or never sign up fall into five groups.
| Reason | Superapp Selfdrive's answer | What AppTweak users say | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price for a small team | Superapp Selfdrive: ASO and Apple Ads agents included in Superapp Max at $100 a month | "This tool is on the pricier side, especially for a startup like us." | Capterra |
| Paying for data, then doing the work | Agent drafts listing changes and runs Apple Ads | "You end up paying a monthly subscription for a tool you log into twice." (vendor) | DEV Community |
| Limits push you up a tier | The agent researches keywords for your app | "limited packages. it feels like companies are being forced into enterprise plans" | G2 |
| Too much for one app | One report a day, one approval queue | "It was overkill of information" | Capterra |
| Renewals and refunds | Superapp Max is priced per month | "AppTweak has outright refused to prorate the remaining 10 months or offer any refund" | Capterra |
Price
Price complaints run from 2021 to 2025. "On the more expensive side for a start up - but you do get what you pay for," wrote one marketing director, while another reviewer listed "A lot of features just in pricy Subscriptions," and a 2025 reviewer said, "What I didn't like about AppTweak was the startup cost and poor customer support!" (Capterra). On G2, users note "It can also get expensive as you add more apps," (G2).
Limits
AppTweak's Essential plan includes "500 Keywords" and "1 Seat" (AppTweak). Sonar, a competitor, points out that "The jump from Essential to Grow is nearly 4x the price for 3x the keywords, so scaling costs more per keyword, not less," and "Those prices cover 5 followed apps; following more costs more" (Sonar). ASOScan, another competitor, calls out "the keyword allowance for the price (500 at the entry tier)" (ASOScan).
Data you still have to act on
AppTweak's AI agents are useful, but the help center is clear about what they do: "AppTweak AI Agents are your built-in performance advisors for ASO and Apple Ads," and "They do not automatically make changes to your account" (AppTweak Help). ASOScan is harsher, writing that "the AI features read like a layer added to a tool designed before AI mattered" (ASOScan). Users also warn about estimates: "Some metrics are estimates and can be imprecise, so you often need to cross-check with internal data" (G2).
Renewals and refunds
The sharpest recent complaints are about billing. One reviewer wrote, "Our subscription was automatically renewed in January," and "AppTweak has outright refused to prorate the remaining 10 months" (Trustpilot). AppTweak's public reply explains its policy: "Outside that window, we do not currently offer prorated refunds for unused time on our platform," referring to a 48-hour refund window. Another user wrote, "They initially agreed to give me a refund, but after that, they kept delaying." Trustpilot shows 2.8 from 15 reviews. To be fair, AppTweak's pricing page says "Cancel anytime," and these are a handful of reviews against hundreds of positive ones, but they matter if you are considering an annual plan.
What AppTweak Costs in 2026
Superapp Selfdrive's price is one line: included in Superapp Max at $100 a month with 230 credits, and Apple bills ad spend separately. AppTweak's pricing has more moving parts, so here it is in full (AppTweak).
| Plan | Superapp Selfdrive comparison | Per month (billed yearly) | Per year | Keywords | Seats | History |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential, 5 apps | Superapp Selfdrive: $100 a month, ASO and Apple Ads agents included | $79 | $949 | 500 | 1 | 6 months |
| Essential, 10 apps | Same plan | $99 | $1,190 | 500 | 1 | 6 months |
| Essential, 20 apps | Same plan | $149 | $1,790 | 500 | 1 | 6 months |
| Grow, 5 / 10 / 20 apps | Same plan | $299 / $349 / $499 | $3,590 / $4,190 / $5,990 | 1,500 | 1 | 12 months |
| Expand, 5 / 10 / 20 apps | Same plan | $549 / $639 / $833 | $6,590 / $7,668 / $9,990 | 3,000 | 1 | 24 months |
| Apple Ads campaign management | Included in Selfdrive's Apple Ads agent | Free up to $25,000 a month in ad spend, then 4% of spend above that | n/a | n/a | 3 | n/a |
| Enterprise | n/a | "Contact us for pricing" | n/a | Custom | Custom | Custom |
The monthly figures on AppTweak's page equal the annual total divided by 12, so they are annual-billing prices. Applyra, a competitor, reports the monthly-billed prices as "$99, $359 and $659 a month billed monthly, or $79, $299 and $549 a month billed yearly" (Applyra). Some third-party sites still list Grow at $249; AppTweak's own page shows $299. AppTweak offers a 7-day free trial and a free Market Intelligence plan with past-month download and revenue estimates.
How We Evaluated These AppTweak Alternatives
Superapp Selfdrive is our product, so we held it to the same rules as every other tool. We checked every price on the vendor's own pricing page in October 2026, and when a page did not show a price we say so rather than repeating a third-party figure. We scored each tool on:
- Price for one app, five apps and a small team.
- Limits: keywords, apps and seats at each tier.
- Store coverage: App Store only, or App Store and Google Play.
- Apple Ads: data only, campaign management, or an agent that runs campaigns.
- AI: whether it suggests, drafts or does the work, and whether you approve changes.
- Reviews: ratings and verbatim user comments from G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, Product Hunt and developer blogs, with vendor sources labeled.
We left out tools that are not ASO tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, AppsFlyer and Semrush appear on G2's AppTweak alternatives list, but solve different problems).

The AppTweak Alternatives, One by One
1. Superapp Selfdrive
As a disclosure, Superapp is our product, so weigh this accordingly. Superapp Selfdrive is an AI marketing agent for iOS apps that covers ASO, Apple Ads, UGC and SEO. In its own words: "Grow your iOS app with an AI marketing agent for Apple Search Ads, ASO, SEO and UGC" (Selfdrive). It is the only option here that does the ASO and Apple Ads work rather than showing you data to act on.
How it works: "Selfdrive combines proprietary keyword data, your Apple Ads results and competing listings" (Selfdrive ASO). "The agent researches keywords, reviews available analytics and prepares recommendations," "The agent proposes metadata changes with a reason for each recommendation," and "Selfdrive can draft supported text metadata, including the app name, subtitle, keyword field and description." On the ads side, "it picks keywords, sets bids within your budget, and pauses what isn't working," "Then it uses the results to improve your App Store listing" (Selfdrive Apple Ads).
You stay in control: "Nothing is submitted as an approved listing update until you accept it," and "Selfdrive does not authorize an increase beyond the budget you set." Every morning, "Superapp sends you one email" that "summarizes App Store Connect analytics, downloads, ad spend and campaign results" (Selfdrive).
How it measures revenue: for apps built in Superapp it uses Superapp's own revenue data; for any other App Store app it reads revenue from App Store Connect analytics, so keywords are judged on money, not just installs.
Pricing: "Selfdrive is included in the Max plan, $100/month, with 230 credits a month" (Selfdrive). "ASO agent work uses Superapp credits," and "There is no advertising spend required for an organic listing update" (Selfdrive ASO). Apple bills ad spend separately. You can "Paste your App Store link to get a free growth plan."
Limits, from its own pages: "Keyword research does not guarantee a rank or a number of downloads," "Screenshot production is not included in this ASO workflow," and "A daily report does not mean a daily metadata change." It is in beta, App Store only, and has no independent reviews yet, so we quote none.
Pick it if: you want ASO and Apple Ads handled as one loop and would rather approve changes than research them. Skip it if: you need Google Play, market intelligence on competitors' downloads and revenue, or a team dashboard for an agency.
2. MobileAction
MobileAction is the alternative G2 lists first: "The best overall alternative to AppTweak is MobileAction, rated ~4.4 stars on G2 from 113+ reviewers" (G2). It covers ASO intelligence and Apple Ads campaign management (CMP), and its footer now reads "an InMobi Advertising company."
Pricing (MobileAction): ASO Lite $15 a month ($12.50 yearly) for "100 keywords" and "5 apps and 3 competitors per app"; Basic $69 ($59 yearly) for "500 keywords"; Pro $239 ($199 yearly) for "1500 keywords" and 3 seats; Enterprise on request. CMP is free up to "$10,000 monthly ad spend," with AI Smart Bidding on Enterprise. There is a 7-day trial.
What users say: "It can be a bit high, especially for smaller developers or startups," and "Compared to other tools like AppFigures in some cases I'm able to see 5-6x coverage differences in some stores" (G2). One product owner switched from Sensor Tower because "Sensortower comes at a very high price in terms of budget" and chose MobileAction as "a price/performance product" (Capterra).
Fine print: Trustpilot shows 1.8 from 17 reviews, mostly about lifetime deals and gating. "I also purchased a lifetime license and have now been locked out of all features," wrote one user, and another said "they lure u in with the free trial just to find out that even simple things like keyword trends is gated" (Trustpilot). MobileAction's reply: "our higher-tier packages are structured to offer advanced features."
Pick it if: you want ASO and Apple Ads data in one cheap tool. Skip it if: you need many keywords on the Lite price.
3. Astro
Astro is a Mac app for iOS keyword research. "Astro is an App Store Optimization (ASO) tool that helps users find and evaluate keywords on the Apple App Store," and "you can track all your apps and keywords without restrictions by paying a simple annual subscription" (Astro, Astro terms).
Pricing: "$108 Billed annually" for a "Single Mac License," with "A limited free demo version" and a 14-day refund window. It requires macOS 14 or later and works only with the App Store. Astro says "The data we provide is sourced from third parties and may not always be fully accurate or up to date."
What users say: Product Hunt shows 4.9 from 16 reviews. "ASO is both easier and more affordable with Astro," wrote one maker, and another called it "An absolute must-have if you are aiming to become an indie developer and make a living from your apps" (Product Hunt). Indie developer Oleh reported being "In the top 10 for 65 out of the 154 keywords I'm tracking" and wrote, "Considering its price of $9/m, it is the best tool on the market for indie developers" (Indie Developer Diaries); note his Astro links carry an affiliate code.
Pick it if: you have iOS apps, a Mac and time to do ASO yourself. Skip it if: you need Google Play, a web dashboard or a team.
4. Appfigures
Appfigures combines analytics, reviews, ASO and app intelligence, and claims it is "Powering growth for 300,000+ apps worldwide" (Appfigures).
Pricing: Starter free; Connect $9.99 ($7.99 yearly) with no keyword tracking; Monitor $44.99 ($35.99) for 100 keywords; Optimize $149.99 ($119.99) for 500; Boost $599.99 ($449.99) for 1,000; Amplify $1,399.99 ($999.99) for 2,500. Five apps are included, "then $1.99 each." New in 2026: an AI Agent, MCP Server, CLI and Agent Toolkit.
What users say: "I like being able to have one consolidated place to visit to see performance across all the different app store listings" (G2). Complaints are about gating and renewals: "Everything is gated, and once you bite the bullet the features fall short," and one co-founder wrote "they tried to charge me $4K (the cost of renewing the yearly package) a month before my subscription ended" (G2). G2 shows 4.0 from 18 reviews.
Pick it if: you want sales, downloads, reviews and keyword tracking in one place. Skip it if: you need competitor keyword intelligence on a small budget, since that needs Boost.
5. AppFollow
AppFollow is mainly a review platform with ASO on top. Its ASO add-on starts "From $19 a month, billed yearly, 2 apps," with "500 keywords included"; Essential is "$179 a month ($129 billed yearly), 5 apps"; Team is "$599 a month ($425 billed yearly)," and "every plan includes unlimited users" (AppFollow). There is a free plan and "a 10-day free trial."
What users say: G2 shows 4.6 from 195 reviews. "What I like most about AppFollow is how quickly it lets me track review dynamics," and "Easy to respond to reviews with AI. Good ASO tools to help keep the reviews high as well!" (G2). On price: "some users find the pricing a bit on the higher side," and on Capterra, "Even with the paid plans, you don't get many keywords" (Capterra).
Pick it if: reviews and ratings are your main job. Skip it if: keyword research is the main job.
6. Applyra
Applyra is the cheapest unlimited web tool here: "ASO made simple. Track keywords, discover opportunities, and grow your app visibility" (Applyra). It has "A permanent free plan, not a trial" and an Unlimited plan at $9.99 a month or "$99.99 per year," covering "Both stores, on every plan," with a "Fair use policy." Paid plans add "AI listing suggestions" and an "MCP server for AI tools." Applyra also wrote one of the roundups we cite, so read its comparisons as a vendor's. No independent reviews yet.
Pick it if: you want web-based tracking for both stores at the lowest price. Skip it if: you need Apple Ads features or a long track record.
7. Sonar
"Sonar is an agentic ASO (App Store Optimization) tool," with "63 tools in a hosted MCP server, a CLI and a REST API, on every plan" (Sonar). Indie is $29 a month or $290 a year for 10 apps and 2,500 keywords; Agency is $149 a month for 50 apps and 10,000 keywords. "There's no free plan, but you can get real data without paying," and the 7-day trial says "Card required, $0 today." It supports both stores. Sonar works through your AI assistant rather than doing the work itself, and it has no Apple Ads features.
Pick it if: you already work in Claude or ChatGPT and want ASO data there. Skip it if: you want a dashboard or an agent that runs campaigns.
8. ASOScan
ASOScan's pitch is in its footer: "More apps. More keywords. Less money." (ASOScan). Solo is $15 a month ($12.50 yearly) for 3 apps and 500 keywords; Pro $59 ($49) for 12 apps and 3,000 keywords; Business $149 ($124); Agency $299 ($249). "Every plan starts with a free 7-day trial with full access," with "No credit card," and "There's no permanent free tier." It covers both stores and includes AI metadata generation and review replies. Its own roundup ranks itself well, so treat that as a vendor view.
Pick it if: you manage several apps and want many keywords cheaply. Skip it if: you want a free plan.
9. ASOZen
ASOZen "is a web application that helps app developers and marketers analyze, optimize, and improve" "their App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) listings" (ASOZen). It has a free forever plan, Starter at "$9/mo" "billed $108/yr" for "Up to 50 keywords," and Pro at "$15/mo" "billed $180/yr" for "Up to 250 keywords," plus an AI Metadata Writer (ASOZen). Its own comparison makes a fair point for indies: "For indie teams, the risk is paying for a larger research suite before the core organic workflow is proven."
Pick it if: you want audits and light tracking for very little. Skip it if: you track hundreds of keywords.
10. ASOMobile
ASOMobile calls itself "an affordable and easy-to-use ASO analytics platform designed to help apps grow organic installs" (ASOMobile). Free covers 20 keywords and 2 apps; ASO Indie is $59 a month ($47 yearly) for 500 keywords and 5 apps; Pro $119 ($95); Max $229 ($183) adds Apple Ads competitor keywords; Maximum $299 ($239) adds competitor downloads and revenue. The trial lasts 3 days. It is cheaper than AppTweak at each tier but not cheap for one app.
Pick it if: you want downloads-by-keyword data below AppTweak's price. Skip it if: you only have one app.
11. App Radar (by SplitMetrics)
App Radar, now "Copyright © 2026 SplitMetrics," focuses on keyword tracking, metadata publishing and localization: "Our platform supports distribution to two major app stores: Apple App Store and Google Play Store" (App Radar). Essentials is €69 a month (€58 yearly) for 2 apps and 500 keywords; Growth €169 (€141); Scale €299 (€250). "Our free trial period spans 7 days and requires a credit card for sign-up."
What users say: G2 shows 4.3 from 32. "Numbers of Keywords tracked for the price paid is awesome," but "pricing is a bit strange to me, pay as you go model could be a better option," and "Limited free trial. Exensive for Start-Ups." (G2).
Pick it if: you publish metadata in many languages. Skip it if: you want a free plan or Apple Ads in the same tool.
12. SplitMetrics Acquire and Iris
SplitMetrics Acquire is an Apple Ads platform, not an ASO tool: "Everything you need to decrease CPA, avoid spend leakage and work with automated campaign management" (SplitMetrics). Starter is "Free" "for unlimited time" up to "$25,000 monthly ad spend," with "20,000 keywords," "8 active automations" and "1 user." Its AI agent Iris is "your AI-powered Apple Ads & ASO consultant," and "Iris does not make campaign changes without your confirmation" (SplitMetrics Help); its price is "Let's talk."
Pick it if: Apple Ads automation is your main need and you spend under $25,000 a month. Skip it if: you need keyword research and rank tracking too.
13. Apple and Google's free tools
The cheapest alternative is free. Apple gives you Apple Ads search popularity, App Store Connect analytics, product page optimization and up to 70 custom product pages; Google Play gives you store listing experiments. Apple's own rules tell you what matters: "Keywords are limited to 100 characters total, with terms separated by commas and no spaces," and search results depend on "text relevance" and "user behavior (downloads, ratings and reviews, and more)" (Apple Developer).
An ASO agency (vendor) makes the case directly: "An indie app can do well-ranked ASO on $0 first," because "Autosuggest + competitor analysis + Apple Search Ads keyword popularity = most of what a paid tool provides," and paid tools "are upgrades, not requirements" (SEM Nexus). The catch is time and the lack of rank tracking.
14. Sensor Tower (and AppMagic)
Sensor Tower is not cheaper than AppTweak; it is the enterprise option. Its pricing page says "We customize pricing plans for each customer - get in touch to find your perfect fit" (Sensor Tower). Reviewers agree: "this tool is not for small teams, so expensive. Only big enterprises can afford it" (Capterra). Sensor Tower's own executive told PocketGamer, "We've done a bad job servicing the small business and indie developer community," which is why it bought AppMagic in 2026 as its SMB product (PocketGamer). AppMagic does not publish prices.
Pick it if: you need market sizing, competitor downloads and revenue at scale. Skip it if: you are looking for a cheaper AppTweak.
Also considered
- ASOdesk: "All-in-one solution to grow your app on the App Store & Google Play," with a free plan and a 7-day trial; its prices could not be confirmed on its page in October 2026 (ASOdesk).
- FoxData: keyword tracking plus an Apple Ads "Campaign Manager," but no prices on its official page and one G2 review (FoxData).
- StoreLit: mainly a screenshot and listing tool with light ASO: "Professional screenshots, AI-powered audits, direct publishing. All in one place." Pro is 9€ a month (StoreLit).
- Appbot: review analysis only, from $49 a month yearly; not a keyword tool (Appbot).

What Each AppTweak Alternative Costs at Three Team Sizes
Superapp Selfdrive's plan price is flat at $100 a month, with agent work using credits. For the others, here is a realistic yearly cost in October 2026 list prices, using annual billing where offered.
| Setup | Superapp Selfdrive | AppTweak | MobileAction | Astro | Appfigures | AppFollow | Applyra | ASOScan |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| One app, under 100 keywords | Superapp Selfdrive: $1,200/yr incl. Apple Ads agent | $949 (Essential) | $150 (Lite) | $108 | $432 (Monitor) | $228 (ASO add-on) | $99.99 | $150 (Solo) |
| Up to 5 apps, about 500 keywords | $1,200/yr (Superapp Max) | $949 (Essential) | $708 (Basic) | $108 | $1,440 (Optimize) | $228 (ASO add-on, 2 apps) | $99.99 | $588 (Pro) |
| Small team, 1,500 keywords, 3 seats | $1,200/yr (Superapp Max) | $3,590+ (Grow, 1 seat) | $2,388 (Pro, 3 seats) | Not designed for teams | $5,399 (Boost, 1,000 keywords) | $1,548 (Essential) | $99.99 (fair use) | $588 (Pro, 3,000 keywords) |
Notes: Apple Ads spend is extra for every option. Selfdrive's $100 a month also covers its UGC and SEO agents, and credits limit how much agent work you can run. AppFollow includes unlimited users. Prices change often; check each pricing page before buying.
AppTweak's AI Agents vs Selfdrive vs SplitMetrics Iris
The newest reason to switch is AI. Three products now call themselves agents for ASO and Apple Ads, but they do different things.
| Question | Superapp Selfdrive | AppTweak AI Agents | SplitMetrics Iris |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Superapp Selfdrive: an AI marketing agent for ASO, Apple Ads, UGC and SEO | "built-in performance advisors for ASO and Apple Ads" | "your AI-powered Apple Ads & ASO consultant" |
| Does it make changes? | Ads: manages bids and keywords within your approved budget; listing: drafts, submits after approval | "They do not automatically make changes to your account." | "Iris does not make campaign changes without your confirmation" |
| Agents | ASO, Apple Ads, UGC, SEO | ASO, Ad, Reviews and Reporting Agents | One agent |
| Price | Included in Superapp Max, $100/mo | "AI Agent access depends on your subscription plan." | "Let's talk" |
| Daily report | Morning email | Not stated | Not stated |
| Who it suits | Founders without a growth team | Teams already paying for AppTweak | Teams on SplitMetrics Acquire |

The difference that matters is who does the work. AppTweak's and SplitMetrics' agents recommend; you still log in, decide and click. Selfdrive's agent does the routine itself, within limits you set: "Within that approval, Selfdrive can manage bids and keywords without asking about every adjustment," while "Listing changes, creator briefs and each creator video wait for your approval" (Selfdrive).
Apple Ads: Do You Still Need AppTweak's Campaign Manager?
Superapp Selfdrive runs Apple Ads as part of the same agent, so there is no separate campaign tool to pay for. If you want a separate tool, three are free at small budgets.
| Tool | Superapp Selfdrive | Free up to | Above that | Seats | Who manages bids |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Superapp Selfdrive | Superapp Selfdrive: included in Superapp Max | Your approved budget | Same plan | Your account | The agent, within your budget |
| AppTweak campaign manager | n/a | $25,000 a month ad spend | 4% of spend above $25,000 | 3 | You, with rules and AI recommendations |
| SplitMetrics Acquire | n/a | $25,000 a month ad spend | Enterprise, on request | 1 | You, with automations; Iris recommends |
| MobileAction CMP | n/a | $10,000 a month ad spend | Enterprise, on request | 1 | You; AI Smart Bidding on Enterprise |
| Apple Ads console | n/a | Free | Free | Your account | You, or Apple's Maximize Conversions |

Mistakes to Avoid When You Switch From AppTweak
Superapp Selfdrive users switch too, so these apply to any move.
| Mistake | Superapp Selfdrive's approach | Why it hurts | How to avoid it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Letting an annual plan renew | Superapp Selfdrive: Superapp Max is priced per month | AppTweak offers no prorated refunds outside 48 hours | Put the renewal date in your calendar now |
| Losing your keyword history | Starts from your App Store Connect data and Apple Ads results | New tools start with no history | Export keyword lists and rankings before you cancel |
| Comparing scores across tools | Uses your own Apple Ads and App Store Connect data | Each tool estimates differently | Run the same 20 to 50 keywords through each trial |
| Paying for keywords you never check | The agent chooses which keywords to act on | Limits push you up tiers | Count the keywords you actually act on |
| Buying a Mac-only tool for a team | One web report and approval flow | Astro is one license per Mac | Match the tool to who does the work |
| Forgetting Google Play | App Store only, said up front | Some tools are iOS only | Check store coverage first |
| Splitting ASO and Apple Ads | One agent runs both | Ad keyword data never reaches your listing | Use ad search terms to choose metadata keywords |
| Trusting a vendor's roundup | We label vendors and disclose our own | Every alternatives page sells something | Read the pricing page yourself |
Mistake 1: letting the renewal happen
The most painful AppTweak stories are about renewals. "AppTweak has outright refused to prorate the remaining 10 months or offer any refund," wrote one reviewer, and AppTweak's own reply confirms "we do not currently offer prorated refunds for unused time on our platform" outside its refund window (Trustpilot). A Singapore user complained of being charged after a trial: "It is cheating my money, said free use for some days." AppTweak replied that the cancel button sits under Account Settings and is visible only to the account owner. If you are switching, cancel from the owner account before the renewal date, and if you are on an annual plan, plan the switch for the end of the term.
Mistake 2: comparing different tools' numbers
Keyword popularity, difficulty and download estimates are each vendor's model. The maker of a free open-source ASO tool wrote of paid tools, "I have tried many and I can say they are not consistent at all" (Hacker News). An AppTweak reviewer noted "11 search volume is very bad. so apptweak doesn't know exactly how many search volumes a word has" (Capterra). Apple's own Apple Ads popularity score and your Apple Ads results are the closest thing to ground truth on iOS, which is why Selfdrive builds on them.
Mistake 3: buying a suite before the basics work
ASOZen puts it well: "For indie teams, the risk is paying for a larger research suite before the core organic workflow is proven" (ASOZen). DataWharf, which sells pay-as-you-go data (vendor), adds, "If your app already earns a few thousand dollars a month, that cost is easy to justify" (DEV Community). Before that point, a $9 tool or an agent that does the work is usually better value than 3,000 keywords of data.
Mistake 4: keeping ASO and Apple Ads in separate silos
AppTweak, MobileAction and SplitMetrics all sell ASO and Apple Ads as separate products, so the data rarely meets. The highest-value use of Apple Ads data is choosing your App Store keywords, as Choice of Games' Dan Fabulich put it years ago: "Then set a reasonable budget, buy those terms, and see which ones convert best," because "they can tell you which terms to directly incorporate into your limited-space keywords list" (Hacker News). Selfdrive is built around that loop: it "Runs search ads within your budget, then uses the results to improve your listing for organic traffic" (Selfdrive).
A Free or Cheap ASO Stack Instead of AppTweak
| Job | Superapp Selfdrive | Free option | Cheap option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keyword ideas | Superapp Selfdrive: proprietary keyword data plus your Apple Ads results | App Store autosuggest, competitor listings | Astro ($108/yr), Applyra ($9.99/mo) |
| Keyword popularity | Built in | Apple Ads search popularity (1 to 5) | Any tool above |
| Rank tracking | Listing performance over time | Manual searches | Astro, ASOZen, Applyra |
| Writing metadata | Drafts with reasons, you approve | You | ASOZen AI Metadata Writer, ASOScan |
| Testing the page | n/a | Apple product page optimization, Google Play experiments | n/a |
| Apple Ads | Agent runs it | Apple Ads console with Maximize Conversions | MobileAction CMP or SplitMetrics Acquire (free) |
| Reviews | n/a | App Store Connect | AppFollow free plan |
| Revenue | Superapp or App Store Connect | App Store Connect | Appfigures Starter |
Apple's free product page optimization lets you test "up to three treatments with alternate app icons, screenshots, and app previews," and "A test runs for 90 days or until you manually stop it" (Apple Developer). Custom product pages let you "publish up to 70 additional versions of your product page," and "You can also assign keywords to your custom product page" (Apple Developer).
What Indie Developers Say About Paying for ASO Tools
- Indie developer Oleh on a $9 tool: "Using Astro (App Store optimization tool), I focused on finding keywords that had low competition but high relevance" (Indie Developer Diaries).
- Developer Kuba Milcarz after a month of keyword work: "So far, I noticed real change across many markets I follow and optimize for" (Substack).
- A Hacker News user on Apple Ads as an ASO tool: "Over the last year or so I've been able to climb the keyword rankings faster using search ads" (Hacker News).
- The founder of ASO by 2Stable on indie willingness to pay: "When we first launched our project we had a premium subscription of 9,99$/month," and "after 4 months we had 0 subscribers and we decide to make our project free" (Indie Hackers).
- AppTweak fans are real too: "AppTweak is the best platform for anyone looking to improve their ASO and Apple Ads performance," wrote one Trustpilot reviewer in August 2026 (Trustpilot).
When You Should Stay With AppTweak
Superapp Selfdrive is not the right switch for everyone, and neither is a $9 tool. Stay with AppTweak if you run ASO for many apps across App Store and Google Play, need its 30M+ keyword database and market estimates, share reports with clients or executives, or already use its Apple Ads campaign manager under $25,000 a month in spend, where it is free. ASOScan, a competitor, says the same: "If your budget is comfortable and keyword depth is the whole job, it's a safe pick" (ASOScan).
| You are | Superapp Selfdrive | Stay with AppTweak? | Better alternative |

| Solo founder, one iOS app | Superapp Selfdrive: best fit if you want it done for you | Usually no | Selfdrive, or Astro if you do it yourself |
| Indie with several iOS apps | Fits if you approve changes per app | Maybe, on Essential | Astro, Applyra, ASOScan |
| Small studio, iOS and Android | iOS only | Maybe | ASOScan, MobileAction, AppFollow |
| ASO agency | Not built for agencies | Yes | AppTweak, ASOScan Agency, Sonar Agency |
| Large publisher | Not built for this | Yes, or Sensor Tower | Sensor Tower |

Export keywords, rankings and competitors first. Superapp Selfdrive then works from your App Store Connect and Apple Ads data, and other tools import keyword lists.
