Squarespace Pricing (Nov 2026): Plans, Fees and Real Cost

Every Squarespace plan and price after the July 2026 increase, monthly vs yearly billing, transaction and card fees by plan, what domains, email, Email Campaigns and Acuity add, refunds, what real users report, and how Squarespace compares to Superapp, Wix and Webflow.

Squarespace Pricing: The Short Answer

Squarespace has no free plan and four paid plans: Basic at $19 a month, Core at $29, Plus at $49 and Advanced at $99 when billed yearly, or $25, $39, $65 and $139 billed monthly. Those prices took effect after a July 2026 increase of up to 26%. The plan is only part of the cost: Squarespace also charges a 2% store fee on Basic, a 7% to 0% fee on digital content depending on plan, card processing that falls as you move up, and separate subscriptions for email marketing, scheduling and, after the first year, your domain and business email. Below you will find every plan, what each fee and add-on really costs, how renewals and refunds work, what real users report, and how Squarespace's pricing compares to Superapp, Wix and Webflow.

Quick answer: how much does Squarespace cost? As of November 2026, Squarespace costs $19 a month for Basic, $29 for Core, $49 for Plus and $99 for Advanced, billed yearly ($228, $348, $588 and $1,188 a year), or $25, $39, $65 and $139 billed monthly. There is no free plan, only a 14-day free trial. Basic adds a 2% fee on store sales and 7% on digital products; Core removes the store fee and charges 5% on digital products; Plus and Advanced lower card rates and digital fees further. Domains and Google Workspace are free for the first year on eligible plans, then renew at standard rates. If you want an AI-generated website plus a native iPhone app on one flat plan, an AI builder like Superapp is the simpler bill.

Prices and fees below were checked on November 4, 2026 against the Squarespace pricing page and Squarespace's plan guide (updated October 28, 2026). The July 2026 changes come from PetaPixel and TechRadar. User stories come from those reports and Trustpilot.

How much does each Squarespace plan cost?

Plan Billed yearly, per month Billed yearly, per year Billed monthly Store transaction fee Digital content fee Built for
Basic $19 $228 $25 2% 7% Personal sites, portfolios, small sites with one or two editors
Core $29 $348 $39 0% 5% Businesses with more content, a team, or a small store
Plus $49 $588 $65 0% 1% Small businesses selling digital products or services
Advanced $99 $1,188 $139 0% 0% Larger stores with high order volume

Sources: Squarespace pricing, Squarespace plan guide. US dollars, before tax; yearly plans are paid up front.

Squarespace describes Basic as fitting "smaller sites with one or two contributors" and Advanced as fitting "larger ecommerce stores processing high order volumes, where the lower fees matter most" (Squarespace). In practice the choice between plans is mostly a choice about fees.

What each Squarespace plan includes

Unlimited bandwidth on every plan is a real difference from Webflow and Framer, which both charge for extra bandwidth. On Squarespace, a traffic spike does not raise your plan price.

Is Squarespace free?

No. Squarespace says it "doesn't offer a free plan, but every site starts with a free trial" (Squarespace pricing). The trial lasts 14 days and does not need a credit card. To publish a site after that, you need a paid plan.

What you want Free trial Cheapest paid option
Try templates and build a site Yes, 14 days Not needed
Publish the site No Basic, $19 a month yearly
Your own domain No Basic, with a free domain for the first year on yearly billing
Sell physical products No Basic, with a 2% fee; Core with none
Sell digital products or memberships No Basic at 7%, Core 5%, Plus 1%, Advanced 0%
Add more than two editors No Core

Source: Squarespace pricing.

This is the main difference from Wix, which has a free plan with ads. If you want to keep a site online without paying, Squarespace is not the tool.

What changed in Squarespace pricing in 2026?

Squarespace changed its prices twice in roughly eighteen months.

When What changed Source
2022 Squarespace stopped honoring the sign-up price at renewal Collaborada
February 2025 to February 2026 Personal, Business, Commerce Basic and Commerce Advanced renamed and restructured as Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced Beancount
July 2026 US yearly prices up 19% to 26% on Basic, Core and Plus; Advanced unchanged PetaPixel
July 2026 Squarespace cites a "pricing implementation error" for some larger notices TechRadar

Old vs new prices

Plan Before July 2026, yearly / monthly Now, yearly / monthly Change, yearly / monthly Old name
Basic $16 / $25 $19 / $25 +19% / no change Personal
Core $23 / $36 $29 / $39 +26% / +8% Business
Plus $39 / $56 $49 / $65 +26% / +16% Commerce Basic
Advanced $99 / $139 $99 / $139 No change Commerce Advanced

Sources: PetaPixel, UsagePricing, Squarespace pricing.

The increase reached existing customers at renewal, after notice by email. Some customers received notices showing larger increases than intended. Squarespace told TechRadar it was a "pricing implementation error" and that no customer was incorrectly charged (TechRadar). SQSPThemes, a template seller, reported that Squarespace said the actual increase is capped at 20% for affected renewals (SQSPThemes).

Annual totals tell the story more clearly. By our arithmetic, Basic went from $192 to $228 a year, Core from $276 to $348 and Plus from $468 to $588. A Reddit user quoted by PetaPixel and TechRadar, CheesecakeOdd3075, said their bill had risen 61% since 2021, from $216 to $348 a year, and wrote: "I feel like I'm paying for things I sincerely did not ask for" (PetaPixel).

What users said about the increase

Who Where In their words
Mike Reda, filmmaker Social media, via PetaPixel "Like many of you, I'm leaving @squarespace after their ridiculous pricing increase."
Stephen Broome, photographer Social media, via PetaPixel "The price has long been hard to justify"
Ryan Neeven, photographer Social media, via PetaPixel "Since we're all ditching Squarespace with their crazy new pricing"
CheesecakeOdd3075 Reddit, via PetaPixel "the biggest thing being AI"

Source: PetaPixel.

Squarespace's response was that it is "continually investing in our platform" and had added features to every plan that used to be limited to higher tiers or third-party services (TechRadar). Photographers, a core Squarespace audience, were among the loudest critics.

Is Squarespace cheaper billed yearly?

Yes, by about a quarter, and yearly plans include a free domain for the first year.

Plan Monthly billing, per year Yearly billing, per year You save yearly (our arithmetic) Monthly costs more by
Basic $300 $228 $72 32%
Core $468 $348 $120 34%
Plus $780 $588 $192 33%
Advanced $1,668 $1,188 $480 40%

Prices from Squarespace pricing; totals are our arithmetic.

Changes to your plan or billing cycle take effect at the end of your current billing cycle (Squarespace pricing). If you start monthly to test, switching to yearly later is simple, but it applies from your next cycle.

What fees does Squarespace charge?

Squarespace's fees depend on the plan, what you sell and how customers pay. This is the full table from the pricing page.

Fee Basic Core Plus Advanced
Store transaction fee (physical products, services) 2% 0% 0% 0%
Digital content and memberships fee 7% 5% 1% 0%
Standard card rate, Squarespace Payments 2.9% + $0.30 2.9% + $0.30 2.7% + $0.30 2.5% + $0.30

Source: Squarespace pricing. Squarespace Payments rates apply only when you use Squarespace Payments.

The store and digital fees are Squarespace's own and sit on top of card processing. A Basic plan selling a $20 digital download pays $1.40 in Squarespace's 7% fee plus $0.88 in card processing at 2.9% + $0.30, so $2.28 of every $20, by our arithmetic.

When does upgrading pay for itself?

Upgrade Extra plan cost a month, yearly What you save Break-even (our arithmetic)
Basic to Core, physical products $10 2% store fee About $500 a month in store sales
Basic to Core, digital products $10 2 points of digital fee (7% to 5%) About $500 a month in digital sales
Core to Plus, digital products $20 4 points of digital fee, plus 0.2 points on card rate About $476 a month in digital sales
Core to Plus, physical products only $20 0.2 points on card rate About $10,000 a month in card sales
Plus to Advanced, digital products $50 1 point of digital fee, plus 0.2 points on card rate About $4,167 a month in digital sales
Plus to Advanced, physical products only $50 0.2 points on card rate About $25,000 a month in card sales

Prices and fees from Squarespace pricing. Break-even assumes all sales through Squarespace Payments at the standard card rate.

The pattern is clear. If you sell digital products, courses or memberships, Plus pays for itself quickly. If you sell only physical products, Core is usually the sweet spot, and Plus or Advanced make sense only at high volume.

What a month of sales really costs

Monthly sales Basic: plan + 2% + cards Core: plan + cards Plus: plan + cards
$500 physical, 20 orders $19 + $10 + $20.50 = $49.50 $29 + $20.50 = $49.50 $49 + $19.50 = $68.50
$2,000 physical, 50 orders $19 + $40 + $73 = $132 $29 + $73 = $102 $49 + $69 = $118
$2,000 digital, 100 orders $19 + $140 + $88 = $247 $29 + $100 + $88 = $217 $49 + $20 + $84 = $153
$10,000 physical, 200 orders $19 + $200 + $350 = $569 $29 + $350 = $379 $49 + $330 = $379

Our arithmetic from Squarespace's listed yearly plan prices and standard card rates. Digital rows add the digital content fee (7%, 5%, 1%). Excludes tax-calculation fees and premium cards.

At $500 a month, Basic and Core cost the same. At $2,000 a month in digital sales, Plus saves $64 a month over Core. At $10,000 a month in physical sales, Core and Plus cost the same.

Squarespace domains and email

Yearly plans let you register your first domain free for one year; Squarespace says it "must be registered within one year of the start of your eligible website subscription," renews at the standard rate, and only one free domain applies per site (Squarespace pricing). WHOIS privacy is "included for all eligible domains" (Squarespace Domains), which is an extra charge at some other builders. Third-party guides put common domain renewals at about $10 to $20 a year, and specialty extensions at $30 to $70 or more (Outfy).

Core, Plus and Advanced include one Google Workspace account free for the first year, only for new Workspace accounts set up through Squarespace; extra users are billed at the standard rate (Squarespace pricing). Beancount estimates about $6 per user a month afterward (Beancount). A team of three would pay about $216 a year from year two, by our arithmetic.

Domain problems are a recurring theme in reviews. jawad Qadiri wrote "I purchased a new domain, and I can't verify it." and salasorganixandfarms.com wrote "I still have no access to my domain." (Trustpilot, October 2026).

Squarespace Email Campaigns

Plan Monthly price Campaigns a month Emails a month
Starter $5 Up to 3 Up to 500

Acuity plan Billed yearly Billed monthly
Starter $16 a month $20 a month
Standard $27 a month $34 a month
Premium $55 a month $69 a month

A coach on Core ($29) with Acuity Standard ($27) and Email Campaigns Core ($10) pays $66 a month on yearly billing, more than twice the Core plan alone, by our arithmetic.

How much does Squarespace cost for a mobile app?

Superapp builds a native Swift iPhone app on its $25 Pro plan, while Squarespace builds responsive websites only and has no native app builder for your customers. Squarespace's own app is for managing your site, not for publishing a branded app to the App Store.

Mobile need Squarespace What you would add
Site that looks right on phones Yes, every template is responsive Nothing
Manage your site from your phone Yes, Squarespace's app Nothing
Your own app in the Apple App Store No A separate app builder or developers, plus Apple's $99 a year
Your own app in Google Play No A separate builder or wrapper, plus Google's $25 one-time fee
Push notifications to customers No A third-party service

Sources: Squarespace pricing, Apple Developer Program.

If you need a customer app, budget it as a second product next to your Squarespace plan.

Do Squarespace discounts last?

No. Squarespace's plan guide says discounts apply only to your first payment and renewals are charged at full price; discounts do not combine, and Squarespace applies whichever saves you more (Squarespace plan guide).

Promotion Discount Plans Period Applies to
SQSP30 (US) 30% Core, Plus, Advanced Through September 7, 2026 First payment only
SQSP50 (outside the US) 50% Core, Plus, Advanced Through September 7, 2026 First payment only
W8F50 50% Select plans August 2026 First payment only

Plan First year at 30% off (our arithmetic) Second year Increase at renewal
Core $243.60 $348 43%
Plus $411.60 $588 43%
Advanced $831.60 $1,188 43%
Plan First year at 50% off (our arithmetic) Second year Increase at renewal
Core $174 $348 100%
Plus $294 $588 100%
Advanced $594 $1,188 100%

The discount is real, but plan your budget around year two.

Does Squarespace give refunds?

Squarespace's pricing page does not set out a refund policy, and its refund request form promises a reply in two business days. WebsitePlanet, which tracks the policy, reports these terms (WebsitePlanet):

Purchase Refundable?
Annual website plan, cancelled within 14 days of purchase Yes
Monthly website plan No
Renewal payments No
Domain, cancelled within 5 days Yes, except some extensions such as .co.uk, .de and .uk, and transferred domains

Source: WebsitePlanet, first published 2020 and updated for 2026. Confirm in your billing settings before you cancel.

When you cancel, your site stays live until the end of the period you paid for (Squarespace pricing).

Some reviewers had smooth refunds. Catia Spinsanti wrote "they immediately refunded my money" and Apiking NZ wrote "A full refund was processed" (Trustpilot, October 2026). Others did not. Laura Ippoliti Sterling wrote "Squarespace charged me an annual renewal fee" and that she was "still being charged for something I no longer need or want," and jawad Qadiri said Squarespace would "take customers' money without offering a refund" (Trustpilot, October 2026).

What happened to Squarespace Personal, Business and Commerce plans?

Squarespace renamed and restructured its plans between February 2025 and February 2026. Searches for the old names are still common, so here is the mapping.

Old plan New plan Price now, yearly / monthly
Personal Basic $19 / $25
Business Core $29 / $39
Commerce Basic Plus $49 / $65
Commerce Advanced Advanced $99 / $139

Sources: Beancount, Collaborada, Squarespace pricing.

The new plans are not like-for-like. Every new plan can sell, which the old Personal plan could not, and digital-product fees changed: Beancount says older Personal and Business plans paid 9% on digital sales (Beancount). If you are still on a legacy plan, Squarespace says to see its legacy billing page; legacy rates are not guaranteed indefinitely, and changing your plan or billing cycle can move you to current pricing.

What do Squarespace customers say?

On Trustpilot, Squarespace scores 3.5 out of 5 from 6,347 reviews, split almost evenly: 40% five-star and 39% one-star (Trustpilot, checked November 4, 2026). Most recent five-star reviews praise support; most one-star reviews are about billing, domains or reaching a person.

Reviewer Stars When In their words

Gregory Brown 1 September 2026 "there was mainly only a bot for customer service"
Kevin Carroll 1 September 2026 "Customer service is piss poor at best."
Evan Landon 2 September 2026 "all they did was send me to the same page Google did."

Gregory Brown September 2026 Delayed payout from store sales "I did not receive my payout for nearly a month"
Valerio October 2026 Hard to track invoices "Billing is split by product, not by account."
Denise Edwards October 2026 Bought the wrong plan "then paid for the wrong one"

Compared with Webflow (1.5) and Framer (1.6), Squarespace's reviews are much more positive, especially about support. The pricing complaints in 2026 came mostly from the July increase and from long-time customers, particularly photographers.

Which Squarespace plan do you need?

If you need Pick Yearly cost Monthly-billed cost
A portfolio or personal site, one or two editors Basic $228 a year $300 a year
A business site with a team, or a small store Core $348 a year $468 a year
Courses, memberships or digital downloads Plus $588 a year $780 a year
A high-volume store Advanced $1,188 a year $1,668 a year
Bookings Any plan plus Acuity Plus $192 to $660 a year for Acuity Higher

Annual totals are our arithmetic from Squarespace pricing and Acuity Scheduling.

Basic vs Core

Basic Core

Contributors 2 Unlimited
Store transaction fee 2% 0%
Digital content fee 7% 5%

The $10 a month gap ($120 a year) buys unlimited editors, no store fee, code injection and a year of Google Workspace. If you will sell at all, or need a third person to edit, Core is usually worth it.

What will Squarespace cost you? Five real-world budgets

These budgets use regular yearly prices from year two, after the free domain and free Workspace year. They are our arithmetic, not quotes from Squarespace.

Setup Plan Domain Email Add-ons Year-two total
Photographer portfolio Basic $228 $20 None None $248
Consultant with bookings Core $348 $20 1 user $72 Acuity Starter $192 $632
Coach selling a $200 course, $2,000 a month Plus $588 $20 1 user $72 Email Campaigns Core $120; digital fee 1% $240 $1,040 + card fees
Small shop, $3,000 a month physical Core $348 $20 2 users $144 Email Campaigns Core $120 $632 + card fees
Larger store, $25,000 a month Advanced $1,188 $20 5 users $360 Email Campaigns Pro $288 $1,856 + card fees

Domains at about $20 a year and Google Workspace at about $6 a user a month, from the sources above. Totals exclude tax and card processing.

The fee line matters as much as the plan. If the coach in row three stayed on Core instead of Plus, the 5% digital fee on $24,000 of yearly sales would be $1,200 instead of $240, wiping out the $240 plan saving several times over.

How a $29 plan turns into a $78 month: three illustrations

These are illustrations from listed prices, not reports from specific users.

1. The long-time Basic customer. A photographer joined years ago on Personal and now renews on Basic at $228 a year. The free domain year is long gone, so the domain renews at about $20. She adds Email Campaigns Starter at $5 a month for client newsletters. Her total is about $308 a year, against a $192 Basic year before July 2026.

2. The coach who stayed on Core. A coach sells $1,500 a month of digital sessions on Core. Squarespace's 5% fee costs $75 a month, on top of card fees. Plus would charge $15 instead, a $60 saving that more than covers Plus's extra $20 a month.

3. The salon with bookings. A salon on Core ($29) adds Acuity Standard ($27 yearly) for three stylists and Email Campaigns Core ($10). With Google Workspace for two staff after year one (about $12), the monthly bill is about $78, nearly three times the Core plan.

Is Squarespace's pricing fair?

Customer Fair? Why
New customer on yearly billing Mostly yes Unlimited bandwidth, polished templates, a free domain year and well-rated support

Digital seller on Basic or Core Often no 7% or 5% on every sale adds up fast
Digital seller on Plus Yes 1% fee and lower card rate
Business needing bookings and email marketing Mixed Acuity and Email Campaigns are separate subscriptions

Your digital sales exceed about $500 a month on Core The 5% fee costs more than Plus Move to Plus
You sell physical products on Basic You pay 2% on every sale Move to Core above about $500 a month
You pay monthly a year after launch You pay 32% to 40% extra Switch to yearly
You are on Advanced selling under $25,000 a month of physical goods The card discount does not cover the plan Check whether Plus or Core is cheaper
You pay for Google Workspace users who left About $6 a month each Remove them
You have Email Campaigns but send rarely A monthly subscription for occasional use Drop a tier or use Mailchimp

How to keep your Squarespace bill down

  1. Pay yearly. It saves 32% to 40% compared with monthly billing, and includes a free domain for the first year.
  2. Use a promotion, but budget for year two. Discounts apply only to the first payment.
  3. Choose your plan by fees, not features. Use the break-even table above.
  4. Cancel within 14 days if Squarespace is not for you. Only annual plans in that window are refundable, according to WebsitePlanet.
  5. Watch your renewal notice. Since July 2026, renewals may be up to 26% higher than your current rate.
  6. Use the free Workspace year deliberately. Decide before year two how many mailboxes you need.
  7. Connect Mailchimp instead of Email Campaigns if you already use it; Core and above include the integration.
  8. Keep video off-site if you are on Basic, which includes only 30 minutes.
  9. Compare domain renewals. WHOIS privacy is included, but other registrars may be cheaper.
  10. Remove contributors and add-ons you do not use before each renewal.

As a disclosure, Superapp is our product, so weigh this accordingly. If you are pricing Squarespace because you want an AI-built website plus an iPhone app for your customers, Superapp builds both on a flat $25 plan and gives you the native Swift Xcode project. If you want a polished template site with built-in selling, scheduling through Acuity and well-rated support, Squarespace is the more complete small-business tool, and Superapp does not build Android apps. Decide in five questions

  1. Do you need a free plan? If yes, Squarespace is not for you.
  2. Will you sell digital products? If so, estimate monthly sales and use the break-even table to choose between Core and Plus.
  3. How many people will edit? More than two means Core or higher.
  4. Do you want the site generated by AI, or a customer app as well? If yes, compare an AI builder such as Superapp before choosing a template site.
  5. What will year two cost? Use the regular price, not the first-payment discount.
